Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa is making a splash on the internet today with his new free mixtape Kush and Orange Juice. To download the tracks for free, click here to go to Rap Radar. Wiz has also posted other links on his Twitter account, which helped make the mixtape a #1 trending topic on both Twitter and Google.
With tracks like “Waken Baken” and “Still Blazin,” it looks as though he’s staying true to his partying roots. Formerly signed to Warner Brothers Records, 22 year-old Wiz (whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomas) parted ways with the label in July 2009 after numerous delays in releasing his planned debut album for the label, First Flight. Khalifa told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: “I learned a lot during my time there and matured as an artist during the process. I’m happy to be moving on with all of my material and having the chance to be in control of my next moves.”
Wiz also appeared on the cover of XXL in March, as part of the hip hop mag’s annual list of the Top 10 Freshmen. Considering how young he is, I bet he’ll be on plenty of other lists soon. As he says in his track “The Statement”: “Know we belong on the top, but we ain’t tripping/’Cause we’ll get there in a minute.”
