Glee Rocks “Like a Prayer” For Upcoming Madonna Episode (LISTEN)

Fox’s Glee returned to the airwaves last week, with powerhouse ratings. But viewers are especially gleeful about next week’s Madonna-themed episode, which features the entire cast rocking out to “Like a Prayer.” Rachel (Lea Michele) starts things off, but most of the cast is included in the song, which could be sending enough viewers to iTunes to make it the show’s next Don’t Stop Believin’-esque hit. Take a listen:

I’m in love with this cover! It might be my favorite Glee hit yet. Next week’s episodes promises to be one of the show’s best, since we were already treated to a preview of “Vogue” performed by hilarious (and evil) cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch). Here’s the vid for that one:

Jane Lynch is usually so funny and ridiculous that it’s hard to see her as a Madonna-esque sex icon, but I like that the show stayed true to the original video’s roots and didn’t make it too silly or slapstick. The cast members’ cameos as suspendered dancers were also fantastic!

The Madonna ep will also feature “Express Yourself” and “4 Minutes.” What does the pop icon herself think of the tribute? “I think Mr. Schuester is very cute,” Madonna said in a statement to Fox, “and I’m glad he’s doing such a good job empowering the girls.” Hmm…she realizes they’re spending an hour singing all her songs, right?

  1. Lea lead the whole thing in DSB, so she doens’t need the other voices. Plus her Give Him Hell just made it to 3.

It may make it to number 1 but it will nto be sustained like DSB was/is.

  2. incredibly good job by Jane Lynch here – somewhere in a stately country manor, Madge is laughing at this.

  3. OMG…I cannot wait to see them do this next week! I’m listening to it here for like, the 5th time. I will definately be putting this on my iPod AS SOON as it come out.

  4. Man Chris Colfer’s voice just does not work here at all.
