Barbara Walters To Have Heart Surgery
Barbara Walters isn’t quitting The View - she just needs a little break to have some heart surgery. According to E News, the 80 year-old interviewing legend announced this morning that she’ll have an operation later this week to replace a faulty heart valve.
“Lot of people have done this and I have known about this condition for a while now,” Barbara explained. “My doctors and I have decided that this is the best time to do the surgery,” said Walters. “And since the summer is coming up, I can take a nice vacation. Earlier this morning I told my wonderful and supportive pals here. And you kept it a secret until this very minute.”
Barbara expects to make a full recovery in one to three months, and then come back to The View. Back in February, she announced that she’ll no longer be doing her annual Oscar special. It was always a good program, but I think Barbara deserves a lighter workload – she’s 80!
Is she scared about the surgery? “Nobody wants to have this kind of surgery,” Barbara said. “It’s not elective, like getting your face lifted. But its an operation that’s done so often and I have very good doctors and the support and love of my daughter. I’m glad it’s going to be over with. It’s going to be taken care of.”
