The Miss USA 2010 pageant just came to a close and the new beauty holding the title of Miss USA is Miss Michigan title holder Rima Fakih.
Miss USA 2009 winner Kristen Dalton (who is linked romantically to former Bachelorette contestant Reid Rosenthal – from Jillian’s season) gave up her crown tonight and now Rima Fakih is ready to take on the task of traveling the world and helping out those less fortunate for the next 12 months.
The 51 contestants were quickly narrowed down to 15 and then to five. The lucky women chosen to compete in the final five included Miss Michigan, Miss Virginia, Miss Maine, Miss Colorado and Miss Oklahoma.

Our personal favorite from the very beginning was Miss Michigan so we’re not surprised she won. Not only did she recovery incredibly from a small slip (she didn’t fall right down) during the evening gown portion of the competition but she also gave a shout out to her mom and her director during her interview question. Miss Michigan was the only woman to do this throughout the competition.
Not only did Michigan (Rima Fakih) possess the most grace, elegance and beauty throughout the competition but she was also the most genuine. Her answers didn’t seem rehearsed and her smile didn’t seem forced, much like the other finalists.
So if you’re asking yourself did Miss Michigan really deserve to win Miss USA 2010, the answer is yes. Absolutely.
When asked about how she felt about her new title, Rima replied with “Ask me after I eat a pizza.”
About time someone who deserves to win actually wins. Now let’s hope she doesn’t end up in the middle of controversy like other former Miss USA competitors – Tara Conner, Carrie Prejean.
Did you think Miss Michigan Rima Fakih deserved to win?

She is pretty but…. seemed unpolished, tripping on her gown, talking about being broke and thanks to her directot for bailing her out.????? That was TMI.. I think Oklahoma or Virginia would be have been better.
haha.. *would have been better! Unless!!!!! Miss Oklahoma will take the crown later, that wouldn’t suprise me. Keep the publicity going…
Miss. Oklahoma was my favorite! She was very graceful and poised!
Michigan was my pick from the top 15.
she is tacky with no couth….desperate as well…no class, seedy side…may have seen her on episode of Jerry Springer….
I think miss michigan deserved it!
Great article! So happy to see the human side of this pageant!
Miss Michigan was the MOST BEAUTIFUL & seemed the most REAL out of all 51 contestants.. the other top 4 looked FAKE, fake teeth, fake boobs, fake hair, fake lips, etc..
My fav! Congrats Ms. Michigan!
Oklahoma was my #1 pick,#2 Virginia,#3 Maine,#4 Colorado,#5 Michigan
I think she did deserve it. She was beautiful and REAL!!!
YES! She’s absolutely beautiful and SMART!
Sorry, I cut myself off. NOt only was she the most gorgeous (Oklahoma was close; nevertheless,
Michigan gave the best answer besides she didn’t have that generic blonde anoxeric look. I can see her giving Venezuela or Puerto Rico some stiff competition.
She deserves it!!!! im lebanese and from dearborn and many people know her as real and beautiful. Congratulations:)
Alicia:
Accidents happen. She’s not the first to trip and she won’t be the last. They asked her about selling her car and she told the truth. It made her seem more human and easy to relate to. A lot of people go through financial issues.
Ms. Gracey:
What do you base that on? You seem very off base.
To answer the question: she totally deserved it! Oh, and Miss Oklahoma’s dress was GORGEOUS!!!
She was my favorite from the beginning. Not only was she beautiful but she was real. Congrats Rima! You totally deserve it
I think Michigan is beautiful poised and I feel the same for all the women….but she is a fellow Wolverine and Michiganian, GO BLUE!!! and GO MICHIGAN!!!!
I tuned in at the end with the final 5. And by far Miss Oklahoma was should have won the crown. My guess is that while her answer to the question was poised and impressive as usual the liberal slant of the judges cost her the crown.
where is she from? i know she is from michigan, but she looks middle eastern or something.
she was so fake, what was those judges thinking? were they on drugs,
i think Maine was the best
I think the final list was read in reverse order! Will the mistake be corrected?
All the contestants were beautiful in there own way. Superficial beauty is fascinating but its only skin deep as ones inner beauty is most telling. I also agree with many of the others opinions here as I also had Ms. Michigan to be my first place choice. She possessed the spontaneity (nothing rehearsed), no artificial ‘seeding’ if you know what I mean, no injected lips etc just a basis for natural beauty! Unlike many others, she earned her way to the top financially with nobody to subsidize her piecemeal accomplishments. I say to all of the contestants, you all looked beautiful and gave it your best, congratulations to you all for your hard earned efforts, dedication and perservearance. Congratulations to you Rima, you looked amazing-best of luck at the Ms. Universe!!!! Sam and Rena!
Yes! Michigan is THAT chick!
Hey! you all blew it for me! I live in New Mexico and it hasn’t ended here yet. Oh well that’s what I get for having internet ha ha
A 24 year old woman representing our nation, and she failed to mention Planned Parenthood in her response to her question about birth control being covered by insurance (It’s expensive!). I’m so glad she sold her car to cheat Oklahoma or Virginia out of there chance to represent us with class.
She is definitely beautiful, but someone needs to tell her “birth control pills” are NOT a control substance…dah!
she definitely deserves her crown. very spontaneous and not ashamed to tell the truth. it is about time that somebody like that wins this title especially the only non-blond of the five finalist. this is what america is all about – diversity. after she herself is a wolverine – a true one at that. MICHIGAN GO BLUE!!!
Rudi: Can you get birth control pills without a prescription? No? Then they’re a controlled substance.
No! Did not deserve it!
Should be a beautiful blonde blue eyed American doll every time!
It is all political!
Kissing up!
CONGRATS!!!…and everyone who is saying she’s “skanky”…atleast shes not like the past contestants…shes has much more class than them…stop being rude and get on with ur lives
Seriously??? Why is everyone missing the part in her final question where she mentions birthcontrol is free from ur obgyn, and then turn around and say it’s costly… ?
she was my fav from the start!!!!!
Im sooo glad she won. She was natural and unpretentious in a contrived atmosphere!
Im soo glad she won. She was natural and unpretentious in a contrived environment.
I’m also Lebanese and that feels good BUT I thought the oky was goin to win Real or not you don’t tell the world your a broke ass while trying to represent the richest nation on the planet also birth control is NOT medication only to cocksick Hoes
miss Michigan deserved it!!! Love her!(:
JC diamond: you are just a poor sport
(:
Not only did she say that birth control pills were a controlled substance (which they are not), but she tripped over her gown and gave a shout out to her mom. No other contestant did anything remotely this unpolished during the televised airing of the pageant. I am confused at this decision.
Miss Michigan! She’s a dime to the nth degree!
Ask her if she supports Hezbollah like her relatives……
I agree, Rima, to my opinion, is Lebanese for poetic and rhythm. It also means for blondes to run for their money!
And this wasn’t a politically correct choice? To pick a Muslim as Miss USA?
SHES GORGEOUS..PRETTIER THEN ANY FORMER MISS USA. AND SHES AN ARAB LEBANESE MUSLIM ♥ yay for her she deserved it.
This country is really going to hell… seriously. Trump did this for the publicity; I think it is time to stop that idiot.
arab woman are the most beautiful women on earth. especially the eyes. im glad america stepped out of its box and chose an arab maybe this time they’ll win miss universe since they chose rima (an exotic beauty) rather then the blonde druggy or risky photo girl. GO RIMA!
Miss Oklahoma demonstrated the most poise and grace. She had the hardest question and answered it perfectly!! Michigan was not well spoken at all! Oklahoma deserved to win!!!
Uhvtobkiddingme: I am so with you on this. I thought her response and the girl who had the social networking question had the dumbest responses. “yes it should be covered because it is costly” – should have said because it will prevent unnecessary abortions and unwanted pregnancies… DUH.
“An Exotic Beauty”… what?
Most of the world has dark skin and brown eyes… what is your point. I suppose that Indian women are exotic too… all 1/2 billion of them.
Read about her Islamic terrorist family she is proud of, and her own hezbollah-loving views:
http://www.debbieschlussel.com/21805/meet-miss-michigan-usas-hezbollah-martyr-relatives/
This is a ridiculous choice of a winner. VA or OK had should have won, the winner has ties to Islamic Hezzbollah and was a total box of bumbling rocks. Just sad – of course it could be a Media Stunt by Trump who will later take her crown and award it to OK – who knows, but this is just ridiculous
Im glad finally there is diversity in this decision! America is made of every COLOR, RACE, ETHNICITY, AND RELIGION so why say no to a Lebanese muslim? I think she is gorgeous and I think she deserved to win! Fairlee and L I dont see why the winner has to be the typical white girl with blue eyes and blonde hair every year but being so nasty and trash talking her is really immature and racial. Stop with the jokes and embrace the fact she probably wont be caught doing something stupid or irresponsible to lose her crown like woman have done in the past.
Alright, I can hosetly say that anyone opposed to tonight’s decisions has provided no legitimate reason as to why Rima should not have won other than claiming that was america attempting to be politically correct, she has no class, her answer was dumb and that her family supports terrorists. While i must a gree that Oklahoma and Virginia were more poised, they didnt stand out. Rima had enough peronality and likeablility to makeup for her faults: her stumble and her mistake with answering the question. In the end the judges made the right choice. She has the best chance out of any of the top five to do well in Miss Universe. So congrats Rima
Yes, she certainly deserved to win! Many of the contestants had these silly open mouthed smiles!
I’m glad a blonde didn’t win. This truly shows that America is land made of IMMIGRANTS (pass and present).
you go Miss Michigan…Miss USA 2010~~!
Fairlee, Mark Aamberton and L…that was a really low and cheap blow..so what if shes a muslim…whi cares…just coz some maniacs such as Osama claim to be muslims does not mean that they are all…If you think that way then all Germans would be terrorists as well coz they are from Hitlers country…try to broaden your thinking coz you are sounding so embarrasing….NE ways I think Rima deserved it to the bottom dollar…she was genuine and easy to relate to…high time we got a winner who was not the typical blue eyed blond…that is such a cliched beauty…so outdated…and some one said that she was poor so why is she representing us at MU…duh…that is pathetic..she told us the real deal…she works for a living..she faces the daily dilema and that makes her human not just a ruch daddy’s spoiled brat…she called out to her mum and that was not unpolished but showed that she cared for her family and was not afraid to show it and that is what makes a true american…Go Rima
You all realize her family is a supporter of terrorist groups. They are not peace loving Muslims. This is a travesty. They kicked out Carrie Prejean because she didn’t agree with Gay Marriage. They make this woman Miss USA and she supports the Holocaust and murder of Jews??????? I can’t believe this. She is pretty… certainly not the best looking… she flubbed her question.. almost fell and she wins the crown.. what is wrong with this picture?
Tripping, bitting, liking her lips, and answering a question like a high schooler. she’s the one who looked and sounded like she knew a lot about controlled substances. That’s the women we want representing the good old USA?!! oh! not to mention all the lives the Muslims destroyed, thanks Trump! traitor!
Jody… seriously… you are giving me… a headache… with all… the appendices… learn how to write.
The Miss USA contest has discredited itself once again by allowing politics to enter into the decision. In the future, every judge must be required to sign a pledge that he will not ask a political question.
Does it surprise anyone that the contestant who gave the liberal answer defeated the contestant who gave the conservative answer?
I’m a political moderate, and I prefer brunettes, but Miss USA has become another attack of freedom of expression. Expect future contestants to give dishonest answers to avoid discrimination.
Sorry, I forgot to say: I actually agree with the answers given by both Miss Michigan and Miss Oklahoma, so for me it’s about free speech not my own positions.
Please stop using the “at least another dumb blond didn’t win” line. Is it better that a dumb non-blond won? Oklahoma and Virginia seemed far more intelligent to me.
I don’t know much about Rima’s family or political views and I don’t care to look them up. This is a Miss USA pageant, nothing else, so based off of beauty (and she is beautiful and classy–no need for ignorant responses about her look being “trashy” just because she isn’t blonde with blue eyes)and based off of finding a representation for the US (which is supposed to stand up for diversity and respect), Rima deserved to win. CONGRATSSSSSSSSSS
No. Birth control is not a controlled substance. Duh…
Wow I love how anyone of Middle Eastern descent is tied to Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations automatically. Honestly, comments like these are what portray Americans as ignorant and close-minded and they truly bring embarrassment our country. We are a melting pot of cultures and religions, and for Rima to be judged based on her religious background is ridiculous. And by the way, Mark Amberstone, how about you check the legitimacy of your sources before you go posting them for others to see as if they are fact.
And in response to her being “trashy,” anyone who said that obviously does not know the Middle Eastern culture… they are one of the most respectful, conservative cultures in the world and I’m pretty sure this girl would have nothing even close to a sex tape such as the ones the former “blonde hair, blue eyed” contestants have had in the past. Middle Eastern girls have respect for themselves, and are anything but trashy.
To all the haters….why are you involving hizballah, terrorist and your ignorannce in this? She deserved to win cause she was real and natural. There was nothing faike about her. Congratulations Rima………
Religion aside- as an Arab-American I am disappointed in Rima Fakih being chosen as Miss USA….Why? Well because she does not in fact represent the Arab voice of young women here in America. She has garnered media attention based on her cultural.ethnic background and religion… But yet she is not involved or dedicated to any associations/campaigns/public service efforts to promote Arab-American cultural awareness… She has no real platform, NONE.
Rather, I’d like to see someone highly accomplished, elegant, composed, eloquent and graceful… Viewers thruout the world instead had a display of Rima Fakih’s “ghetto-ness”: in her talk, in her walk, in her mannerisims…. She was a bumbling idiot- or could have been mistaken for a teenager. Most certainly I would never label her as a lady.
I shudder to think that she will be representing young women like myself… Really, our Miss USA says “balls out” and is proud to describe herself as “a little bit ghetto”. Is that what is going to help the plights of Arab-Americans? Is she the one who will begin to break down barriers and encourage dialogue amongst ourselves as a nation?
Yes, it’s about time we break away from the blonde-haired blue-eyed mold and recognize the diversity that makes our country great… but this should not be at the expense of out nation’s integrity. Anyone who describes themselves as “…I be from Detroit…” is an embarrassment to Arab-Americans and Americans alike.
In all fairness, none of the contestants were able to answer any of the questions poignantly- I was disappointed in the overall caliber of the participants.
I was surprised Miss Michigan even made it to the top 5. Her answer didn’t make any sense. She seemed uneducated and ignorant. I think she is an embarassment to represent our country. I did not see the “class and elegance” that others saw. I’m sure Mr. Trump is using her to create more media attention and I see her crowning as just another move to create political controversy. Miss Oklahoma had the toughest question by far and answered honestly and intelligently. She would have been a much better choice for Miss USA 2010 and not disgrace our country in the Miss Universe pageant.
… – Miss Michigan is not what you think…she’s guite ghetto. Unbelievable after what the arabs have done to America, we are still promoting them !
Congrats to Rima Fakih!!! She is so beautiful and down to earth. I am pleased with the judges this time.
Miss Michigan was so ghetto! How can someone so unpolished be allowed to win a beauty pageant? I am embarassed as a citizen of the US that this piece of trash will be representing us at Miss Universe.
To the judges and all who celebrate the 2010 crowning of Miss USA, NO BALLS, NO GLORY! This explains why someone of her ethnicity and ignorance definitely falls far from the norm of what Miss USA stands for, anyone that looks to her as a leader proves were this county is headed, down, down, down!!! Why do we have to prove to the world that USA takes on all tragedies, her win was definitely a slap in the face to the pageant to all who once believed in the good of humanity. Go Oklahoma !!!!
That ignorant ranting kamasaki salamaleko prostitute how is she going to be representing USA,the whole family has ties with criminals, assassins does not even know how to speak properly, or give an intelligent answer. Uneducated Fake hypocrite GOLD DIGGER, PLASTIC WOMAN FAKE, FAKE ALL AND TWO FACE FANATIC!
That ignorant ranting kamasaki salamaleko prostitute how is she going to be representing USA,the whole family has ties with criminals, assassins does not even know how to speak properly, or give an intelligent answer. Uneducated Fake hypocrite GOLD DIGGER, PLASTIC WOMAN FAKE, FAKE ALL AND TWO FACE FANATIC!THAT BITCH IS A PYSCHO
Although Miss Michigan is beautiful and I did love her gown, I felt Miss Oklahoma should have won and Miss Virginia should have been runner up.
Miss Oklahoma and VA did the best overall with answering the questions (by far). I feel like the judges forgot about this. This just shows that giving good answers does not factor in much. Competitions are always so political. They just pick who they want in the end anyways. I just want the person that did the best to win the crown. Michigan although down to earth, just did not do well. Her final answer made no sense.
My entire family gasped when they announced her as the winner. We all felt she was the absolute worst of the top 15! She was not graceful or well spoken — I completely agree with the comment about her being unpolished. What bothers me is that the young ladies who truly do carry themselves with grace and elegance are seen as somehow not being “real.” Instead of taking her walk when she was crowned, she grabbed the microphone to give shout-outs — really?!? BTW, in case anyone is assuming anything about me, I’m not old, white, or conservative by any means. But it’s disappointing when you see other nice, lovely young ladies who truly presented themselves well go home without a crown because they weren’t “real” enough.
She is stunningly beautiful. Some people just cant’t accept it when an Anglo-Saxon doesn’t win – admit it. And get used to it…
We couldn’t believe that she won. She appears ditzy, flaky, uneducated. She thinks that birth control pills are a controlled substance? Jeez. It’s embarrassing to know that she will be representing the USA. A very poor choice. I don’t care what nationality she is; she was the least poised and should not have won.
OKLAHOMA should have won hands down!!! A muslim as our country’s representative at the Miss Universe contest ….really? Well it doesn’t shock me cause we messed up when a Muslim was elected as the U.S. president! Hey Miss OK….Boomer Sooner Baby!!! You are #1 at home!
Rima Fakih is a stunner, a beauty beyond words. To me, that’s what it’s mostly about, not all the other nonsense, what they plan to represent, etc. It’s all about beauty. Period. And she is truly stunning.
Hey I just thought you haters should now that Rima graduated from a Catholic High School…so she’s not Muslim, more than likely Chaldea, which is a catholic which is a Christian, for those of you that can’t open your eyes to respect all people equally.
Miss Michigan was a poor choice. Have you heard her during interviews? She doesn’t have a great command of the English language. Isn’t part of her job to be a spokesperson?? She uses incorrect verbs and tenses, but worse than that – she just doesn’t come across as very bright. She is supposed to represent the best that the U.S. has to send to the Miss Universe pageant…good grief! During the pageant her answer to the question about whether birth control should be covered by insurance was “Yes, because it’s costly.Thank you!” She spent the entire pageant walking like a two dollar hooker and when she opened her mouth she proved herself an idiot. This pageant has become the tackiest thing on the air.
Even though, I feel Oklahoma was the winner from the beginning, It is so shameful to see so many dirty and aggressive comments on this site. If we are thinking of a true american to win Miss USA, then California should have won,who I believe is partly American Indian. Blue eye blond is the USA representation, then what is OBAMA doing as a president???,AND HE WAS VOTED BY THE PEOPLE. As an american I am ashame to see that we are still more prejudice then the rest of the world. If we are to judge Miss Michigan, maybe for being too real and somewhat childish, but not getto, I don’t think most of you know the difference between one of the other, and are dropping your frustrations on someone that does not deserve such criticism. You are condemning without personal facts.
Come on people don’t throw your anger and prejudice on someone that YOU don’t know. Actually all of YOU who have said so many wrongful things about this girl, without knowing her, YOU are the real ghetto.
I haven’t watched the Miss USA/America pagents for 20+ years. As for Rima, she is very pretty in the pics I have seen. I will not debate who should of won. If Wikipedia is correct that Mima is a Shiite Muslim, and as it seems to me that Islam preaches modesty, I just hope and pray to God that no other Muslim in the U.S., who may have radical views/opinions on her swimsuit and fishnet stocking attire as seen in the photos above, decides to murder her because of the Islamic faith, modesty, and ‘honor killing’.
I was shocked to see that she won. She has no grace or elegance. She speaks unrefined. What has happened to this pagant!? Very disappointed. And the shout out at the end, that was classless. She acted like she just won a wet T shirt contest in Daytona instead of Miss USA. Really a shame.
A BIG FAT NO WAY! I AM FROM DEARBORN! i WAS SO ASHAMED SHE WON! FIRST SHE IS NOT USA BORN! Dearborn TAKEN OVER BY MUSLIMS! AFTER 911 WE REWARD THEM! OMG AND THE PRESIDENT TOO! SHE WAS NOT BORN IN MICHIGAN BUT NY AND MOVED TO MICHIGAN IN 2003? WHY? BIG MUSLIM HUB!SHE SHOULD NEVER HAD BEEN MISS MICHIGAN EITHER! I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE ASHAMED OF AMERICA THAN NOW! IT WAS BOUGHT AND TRUMP MR MONEY BAGS SOLD US DOWN THE RIVER! HOW STUPID HAS AMERICA BECOME TO ALLOW THIS??? LOOK DEEPER AND YOU WILL FIND SOME NOT SO GOOD THINGS!
Did anyone else add up the scores? Prelim scores were tossed out after the Top 15 were named. Based on the combined scores from swimsuit and evening gown, Michigan didn’t even technically make the top 5! Tennessee was booted and she came in 4th place with the scores after those two rounds of competition. Obviously Trump and the Miss Universe Organization picks who they want to win and will do everything to make it happen…including putting Miss Michigan in the Top 5 AFTER her combined scores weren’t high enough to make the Top 5.
For all of you that think she is the first arab american…..Rima Fakih was the second Arab-American winner of Miss USA, Julie Hayek being the first in 1983, her father was full blown arab.
She is a beauty, yet her answer to the judge’s question was pitiful. The worst of the five. Why do they even do that if it doesn’t count for much?
Wow! The world is getting dumber as we speak!!! Birth control IS NOT a controlled substance!!!! Narcotics, Marijuana, hallucinogens, and anti depressants are cotrolled by the government…Look it up you DIMWITS!!!!
I AGREE KELLY! OH, TRUMP HAD BIG MONEY TIES TO THE MIDDLE EAST! IT WAS ALL ABOUT HIS PERSONAL GAIN! OKLAHOMA SHOULD BE REALLY MAD!
Wow, I did not watch the pageant this year however i think it’s refreshing to see that a Muslim woman won and if putting down her win makes some of you feel better then you should ask yourselves how much of it comes from you being racist?
She’s the most beautiful of all contestants. She’s also my favorite from the beginning. Can you please give me her number?
P.S. why don’t some of you people check to see how many of the past Miss USA contestants have ever sounded like they were not the most educated when responding to their final question. Besides when did most of you become judge, jury and executioner on how someone’s faith should define them as individuals? It’s funny how this country is appealing to a lot of us as immigrants and then we realize that people with their racist views reminds us of why we will never truly be viewed as Americans. Good luck with spreading your hate, phys-cos.
HELLOOOOOOOOOOO PEOPLE….YOU NEED A PRESCRIPTION TO GET BIRTH CONTROL MEDICATIONS…all you women out there…Don’t you need a prescription to get birth CONTROL medications??????? then it is control medication, you cannot get it FROM the counter….so easy and simple to understand her answer…..who is ignorant here??????? Miss Fakih or YOU???? AND AGAIN MY WINNER WAS OKLAHOMA…But stop CONTROLLING the world…..IT IS NOT MISS FAKIH FAULT IF MR. TRUMP HAS ANY SPECIAL INTEREST IN HER….WHY ARE YOU BEING SO CRUEL AND MALICIOUS TO HER…..I can understand the extreme dislike against many arabs AFTER 911, and that we need to be vigilant with them…but to condemn this girl is abusive and not american at all, NO ONE IS GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN SO.
This is clearly more proof of the out of touch, politically correct, far left entertainment industry.
Very possible Richard,,,very possible.
Wow, she is so so so beautiful, gorgeous. I thought she was latin because spanish girls are also just as beautiful and exotic. She deserved to win. For all the haters, please stop hating and stop dying of ENVY. Regardless of her name, nationality, background, religion, etc…you all jeolous people wish you look like her. ENVY, ENVY, Envy is the bottom line.
Hi i would like to say that i am a complete dusche bag and do not know how to spell correctly, because had i known that the saying “ASLAMWALIKUM MEANT PEACE UNTO YOU MY BROTHER/SISTER” then i would not have said kamasaki salamaleko. By the way i am realy a skin head beacuse hiding my identity behind a bed sheet makes me fell powerful for fear of getting it up the rear by my fellow brotherhood, which i secretly like.
YOU people keep on acting like “Middle Easterners or your so called Arabs” are the only one to cause harm to Americans, It’s funny how you idiots forgot Timothy McVeigh huh? What about those same solders who were sent to diffuse and keep the peace in their countries that are abusing, humiliating and causing them harm because they find it funny? I know someone who serve this country and him and his fellow bend over buddies decided that it was funny the taunt “poor and hungry” children by taking melted chocolate because it appeared to look like feces and having the kids eat it or pissing in a bottle and telling the children it was lemonade, find that funny? Now imagine that being done to your children, still funny?
NO she should not have won. She couldn’t even answer the question intelligibly. I think the only ones who seemed intelligent were Miss Oklahoma and Miss Maine. But lets face it, it was politically correct to crown her……
It was obvious that Miss Oklahoma should have won but didn’t because of her honest answer.
It’s just a shame how us Americans are still too closed-minded! there is nothing more stupid than mention her religion here! for Christ’s sake, grow up everyone! THIS is a horrible example you guys are portraying on Americans! please be a bit more open minded!
Rima deserved it right from the start! Just wait and see for the coming year before you judge anything crappy!
Rudy, You are retarded…LOOK up the meaning of controlled substance!!!!! You cannot get a misdemeanor or a felony for being in posession of a birth control pill without a prescription… BUT YOU CAN IF YOU ARE IN POSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE!!! It is a prescription but IT IS NOT CONTROLLED BY THE GOVERNMENT! However, NARCOTICS, hallucinogens, antidepressants and Marijuana ARE! GET EDUCATED before you speak!
Goooo Rima!!! You got all the support from me and my family since the beginning. Proud to have you representing the US in Miss Universe. I have high hopes on that.
Cant believe rima fakih won. she thinks birth control is a control medication. !!!! just because its called birth control doesnt mean its a controlled medication. its called birth control because its used to control pregnancy!!!!!!
She is Pretty…. and pretty dumb or ditzy as well. Her answers to the questions were reflective of a person who was lost in a fog who used nervous giggle to distract those listening. Birth control as a controlled substance??? What? If you watch her answering the questions, you see her acting ditzy and totally dodging the questions…perhaps because she didn’t understand them?
Beauty & Brains don’t always come packaged together. As was evident with the answers of 4 of the 5 top contestants…the only one that showed intelligence was Miss Virginia.
Beauty wise Miss Michigan was a winner in comparison to the other Top contestants.
She has a lot of polishing up to do with her ability to handle the media. First answer after receiving the crown: I’ll tell you after I eat a pizza…how off was that answer? That’s not exactly the picture of beauty: “one scarfing down a pizza because they could finally eat”…that is the picture of bulimia/anorexia. She should get a tutor to polish up her intelligence, media presence and nervous giggle when she is clueless. Some in this forum applaud her honesty…I think it was a ploy to entice more followers by making them believe “those who are struggling due to economic hardships” are like her. Probably not true…after all, she didn’t have to give up the car in the end…again using a ploy..this time to plug her agent as the reason why.
But all that aside, if she can polish her act ,she may be a good contender for the Miss Universe Pageant! Good luck to her!
SHE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND SHE WILL BE THE NEXT MS.UNIVERSE,SO GET OVER IT BUNCH O RACISTS.
Miss Michigan is a very beautiful woman but Miss OKlahoma should have won, gorgeous, poised, ladylike, intelligent, classy, her answer was perfect, maybe her honesty did her in.With Rima I dont think we have a chance in ths Miss universe pageant
If she really was a muslim, they would have beheaded her by now!
I think Miss Michigan offers one of the best chances at MISS UNIVERSE. She has a beautiful look that is very exotic. She has months to polish up her answers…even though she spoke from the heart. She was real. Many of the others were overly rehearsed.
Birth control pills are classified as controlled actually because they cannot be obtained off the counter, rather they have to be prescribed. So she is correct is mentioning that.
Also, she did mention Planned Parenthood in her answer, and it is true – birth controls ARE expensive, and the question is about INSURANCE. Therefore the answer isn’t one that should be answered with a social touch “it prevents pregnancy blah blah”.. the objective in providing insurance is to reduce costs not to prevent things from happening.
All in all her answer was 100% correct.
i think miss america is a hottie would love to taste it
@ David, you are right, I can see her bringing the crown home for America. Miss Universe contests likes exotic looking winners and Oklahoma, did have that exoticness what so ever….Her dress was nice, but what else she got?
Twirlit, NO she did not fall, get your story right, she slipped a bit, maybe her dress was too long.
Finally a woman of asian background for a winner. Such a refreshing change. Good luck in the Miss Universe pageant Rima!
Really WOW…you got a head ache…probably coz of all the shit in your head….How come all muslims are supposed to be terrorists. One my my best friends is a muslim and she is one of the nicest person I know. Rima deserved it and to all the close minded people, please try to broaden your thinking coz that is exactly what tarnishes our American dream.
Birth control isn’t a controlled substance, but amphetamine is!
She is beautiful, but no she didn’t deserve to win. She slipped while walking, she does a shout out to her family and director during the interview, she calls birth control pils a “controlled substance”, and now we find out she won a stripper contest with her local radio station a few years back. Ms. USA has always expected more out of their contestants in the past.
Sorry..that’s the truth!

4 blondes and a burnet, does not take a genius to figure out who would win hehehe
there is a blonde joke which goes; there was a blonde and a burnet, suddenly a genie appears to them and says, tell me something about yourself, if it the truth then I will grant you a wish but if it is a lie or you exagerate then you will dissapear. The burnet says “I think I am the most beautiful woman in the world and she dissapears coz that was a lie. The blond says “I think..” and she dissapears hahaha
Go Rima and to all the racists and haters…..get a life
Being “real” and “down-to-earth” are not what Miss USA is about. Incidentally, isn’t that what people say about Sarah Palin? What we’re looking for is poised and refined, which Miss Michigan definitely is not. I thought she was cute until she talked. She gave shout-outs, didn’t answer the questions in any depth, and spoke in an unrefined manner. You get the feeling that in the name of diversity we just wanted something different.
I hope this doesn’t become a trend where girls from one place come to represent girls of another. Imagine Miss Japan being a white girl of European descent with blonde hair and blue eyes. Or Miss Sweden being a black girl. It sounds ridiculous, but it’s the same thing here. People are going to be confused when they see an obviously Arab woman representing the US, which has an Arab population of less than half a percent. You expect representatives to look like the girls of where they’re from, whether they’re part of a majority or significant minority ethnic group.
If we wanted a real representative of the USA perhaps we should look for a Native American. Wake up!!! The USA is not one culture, not one color, not one ethnic background. That is what makes our country so beautiful, its diversity.
SHE WAS THE BEST. ALL OF YOU JEALOUS PEOPLE GO JUMP IN THE LAKE!
IT DOES NOT MATTER WHITE , BLACK, ARAB, MUSLIM ,JEWISH OR WHATEVER… THE GIRL DESERVE IT,
ALL OF THE NEGATIVE TALKS IS TERRIBLE THINGS TO SAY & THE LEBANESE PERSON (JB) WHO WROTE ABOVE ,IS THE MOST JEALOUS… GO JUMP IN THE NEAREST TOILET BOWEL BECAUSE YOU’RE BELONG THERE.
“Representative” means just that – representing a majority or significant ethnic group of the current population. And yes, a Native American is recognized worldwide as being American much more than an Arab. Sure, Rima is American and good for her, but everyone will be confused at Miss Universe seeing an Arab (remember – less than .5% of US population) representing the US. That’s the least of her problems, though … wait until she opens her mouth or stumbles in her evening gown.
We won’t have to wait Jason…..you already did those things for her.
You are either with us or against us!! Bunch of RACIST FUNDAMENTALISTS all of you who are putting her down because of her color, religion, heritage..I wonder what our forefathers would say…And for the people using the argument that she does not represent a typical American..you didn’t dare use that excuse when an African American wins did you?? But now that she is of “Middle Eastern” origin..it’s easy..
Will we ever awaken…I doubt it given the above idiotic comments…
@Max : Thank you for your hateful, racist dumb blond joke.
I can tell you’re a liberal because of the style of your hate speech. Is bigotry against whites, esp. blonds, politically correct?
Scientific studies have shown that dumb blond jokes lower the intellectual performance of blonds by undermining their self-esteem, which is a great way to reduce the gap with minorities.
The complaint is that she was not chosen on merit.
The quality of the answers should be judged on the sexiness of their presentation, not their content. This was, after all, a beauty contest.
Rima did deserve to win. kel Lebnaneya ana et3rafet 3leha a7la men el tanya. O he men benhon kolhon a7la mar2a ana shfetha
Congrats Mrs. USA. Call me (773) 966-8308 lol
(‘~’)………………..
Rima definitely deserved to win. This is significant in Michigan’s history as we are proud to have a strong Arab population here. Those who say that she didn’t because she doesn’t represent the majority…PLEASE. People had come up with the most absurd and hurtful comments in the press about how she is a strong beautiful Arab woman. She is who she is, and it is sad that this just shows that the people who don’t live in diverse areas, maybe that of the south. Especially areas that may be predominately Caucasian and states that thrive on women being in pageants more than anywhere else in this country. She is beautiful and to people who aren’t American, anything we put in a mouth that we need a prescription for is a dangerous chemical and isn’t a way to live. This is a very common misconception of the unhealthy Americans, but lets not be hasty. I am proud of this woman, and being from Michigan, she should know that women of all races appreciate her. She brought glory to the Arab women of Detroit, it is beautiful to see America voting like true Americans. In the height of United States worst moments of foreign policy, she has shown us peace and justice in an amazing way. She went out there knowing what stereotypes have been placed before her feet, and regardless to racism, slander, and prejudice, she has overcome it and won. STATE OF MICHIGAN IS A PROUD STATE TO HAVE OUR FIRST ARAB AMERICAN WOMAN BE OUR MISS AMERICA!! We our proud in our acceptance and open minded hearts and minds in our state. We represent what being a American really is, and that isn’t through ignorant prejudice and hatred. She is a real woman with a real life that has made something for herself. We take pride, now as a country be proud. This isn’t politics. If this were made political as to why she is Miss America, then those people probably do not have a good enough reason for her to not be. Also, those arguments are probably coming from the same people that have no idea what is really happening in the world or policy..and who is really at fault. Michigan is proud and if people understood they would realize that this does have huge impact with people in our state with multiracial communities, especially after placed judgments. It was about showing we still have respect in culture and another story, not just some lame story from a girl who we already know has just focused on pageants and nothing more. All that woman does is focus on maintaining what she is. Rima is a REAL strong woman, a woman who actually has personality and enough drive to know how any of you people who do knock her down, and she knew she would face those. She did, and she shows how to be a strong beautiful woman and overcome people who try to bring you down-just because you are different and they feel threatened is not a good enough reason for someone to “steal” Miss America. It is all your glory Rima!

It is all your glory Rima! Who cares even if she is a Muslim or Christian… please people educate yourselves and stop coming off like bigots and racist fanatics. Now those attitudes are a bit extreme wouldn’t we say?
Also, just so people know. Depending on which state you live in, you may or may not be needing a prescription for birth control. That is statutory, not federal. Wise up people.. wow. Some states are more liberal meaning they tend to say it is a woman’s choice, where as other states may be more conservative, and they tend to be pro life. However, it isn’t a controlled substance it isn’t legally classified that or even medically, because woman CAN legally drive their car and take it. Also, it doesn’t come with warnings saying we can’t all of a sudden drive because a woman took birth control. However, it is a chemical, and many chemicals are not good for you. That argument is valid on whether women can have children when they are ready, such as fertility reduction. Also, it could cause heart attack and stroke in the LONG run effects. Of course there are consequences, but eh it is America, its a woman’s choice and this is no place for a man to be arguing about this. All these views are based on your mindset, but I did see many views from sides that weren’t accurate regardless of the validity of both. This blog should be about how Americans aren’t racist and how we are intelligent people who even understand the arguments. If you are racist and you have no idea even what a shiite or sunni person believes, or don’t even know where Lebanon, Israel, or Palestinian people are, or even the country Jordan, then I am sorry please leave this blog because you are too dumb to even know what the argument is. Thank you and have a great day intelligent Americans.
