There was a lot of controversy throughout the 2010 season of the hit reality show Survivor and the controversy continues even after the winner has been crowned.
Everyone always has a different opinion on who deserves to win the title of Sole Survivor but this year some of the most recognizable names in the history of the show were competing for the top spot. Surely when there are this many tough competitors in the same ring, there are bound to be differences of opinion when it comes to whether or not the winner deserved it.
So who took home the coveted title of Survivor All-Stars Season 20 Heroes vs. Villans? That would be none other than Sandra – AGAIN. That’s right, Sandra beat out Russell and Parvati to win and has now become the only person to ever win Survivor twice.
While we thought Russell played a decent game, it was clear from the beginning that he could never win. He pissed off too many people and while his tactics were successful short-term, he wasn’t smart enough to think about the long term impacts of his decisions (or maybe he was, he just didn’t care). Perhaps this is why he didn’t even receive one vote from any of the contestants on the jury.
Parvati did her best to flirt her way to the final spot but, like Russell, came up short at the end.
So, enough about what happened; are you happy that Sandra won Survivor 2010 – Parvati and Russell made it very clear they didn’t think so?
Are you serious? No she didn’t deserve to win, she is a delusional waste of space. She didn’t play Survivor at all she gave up on more than half of the challenges. What a joke.
I’m out ! I said that last year when a sleeper won the show… and now that makes twice in a row. Russel should have won last year and he should have won this year. Poor little baby heroes…they should stop crying. The game is all about finding idols, play hard at challenges….control peoples mind….that’s what Russel do. Yes he lied…and this IS part of the game.
But now to win this game…you have to sit down, do nothing, say nothing, and wait until the end… Sandra is probably the most boring player ever…. it’s time to change how the final vote works because this show is going right in the wall

Parvati, while she played a good game, was a great competitor & was more deserving of the win than Sandra, didn’t deserve it as much as Russell. She didn’t have any ‘real’ strategy, she didn’t have any real ideas. She made ONE good move and that’s it.
Russell had his strategies & executed them. Everything he wanted to happen happened!! And even tho he was arrogant and said things that upset people, they KEPT HIM IN THE GAME! And then held it against him at the end making it ‘personal’.
I was thoroughly disappointed & angry even about the outcome this season. Ruined it completely for me.
When did the game become a game about morals, honesty, integrity & friendship? Where did the “Outwit, Outlast, Outplay” go? It’s become more about HOW you outwit, outlast, outplay, and THAT to me, is wrong.
This is the most ridiculous winner I could conceive! I hated Sandra through the entire show, as her voice drives me insane. My family and I even discussed that no one should even take her, even though it seemed she wouldn’t win. I’d say this is even worse than Natalie winning last year. Back in Season 1 people voted for who they thought did good. They put Richard Hatch as the victor because he knew how to play. Russell knew how to play, and used tactics comprable to Hatch. He should have been treated with the same courtesy at least once, and one the game. He DESERVES the title for is work, not this idiotic Mexican Sandra. She probably isn’t even legal in the United States! Rus made some questionable moves, such as ousting Danielle, but despite his mistakes, at least he wan’t stupid like Sandra. Now Sandra has this “First Survivor to WIn Twice” award, which is so fail. Parvati deserved that over Sandra. I would have been plenty happy with Parv winning, but even that was too much to ask. The Jury really needs to mature some day..

I’ve watched every season. However, the last two have made me rethink watching. The last two winners were weak players and won based on their lack of playing vs an actual statedgy. They should vote on who played the game the best not who pissed them off less. With that said, they need to stop taking players like that to the end for this reason. I’d rather loose to a worthy opponent than a weak one.

I watched Russel last year take a fallen tribe to the absolute end. Completely out numbered he sealed the fate of their opposing tribe one by one. Like litle puppets on string. AND… in a season containing the BEST OF THE BEST Russel; once again shows he can put these puppets on their strings. He sat there at the final tribal and stated his thoughts regarding luck. Know what? For him, I don’t see where any luck was. Play by play, move by move, word for word he played his heart out. He’s right…. this voting process is completely flawed. You have 9 other losers completely outplayed with their poor little feelings hurt putting 100% of their emotions into their final vote over a one million dollar prize. ONE MILLION DOLLARS! Their feelings are hurt, they all think they are the best yet they make the seats warm at the jury side of tribal all cleaned up and showered while the better players continue to play. Well, the better player of ANY player in survivor HISTORY is Russel hands down; and while Jeff refused to give Russel much gratification in the Sprint player choice award; the fact is the game truly is flawed and I will not be watching Survivor again until the voting system is changed & I get another shot to see Russel win this thing. He deserves it. Parviti deserved it so much more than Sondra. This voting process for the million truly is flawed.

I have to agree with many of the other comments. The motto of the game is “Out wit, out play and out last” who cares how many people you pissed off along the way. Whoever said that in a game like Survivir you had to play nice? Although, I personally don’t care for Russell, he was BY FAR the best player out there. He had people figured out and was able to manipulate them they way he needed to in order to advance in the game. Russell, based on the motto of the game is the winner. Time for Survivor to change the voting at the end. This jusry business is ridiculous.

I’m really disappointed that Sandra won. She did nothing to deserve it. Pavarti was totally deserving. Everyone was continually trying to get her off because they knew she was so good at the game. When she played both idols for her allies, she really showed that she is the best strategic player. She also won a ton of challenges and kept her allies close. I’m really sad that she didn’t win.

When you play poker, you don’t make friends with the person across the table and show your cards and tell the them that you have 4 aces or that you don’t have a hand, you LIE, you BLUFF. It’s a GAME. These jurors are ignorant. I loved this show until now. I found out that the people don’t love the game. They love to put good people down. Russel won. It’s that simple. Parvati and Russell both had a strategy, made stategic moves manu times and made it to the end. Sandra rode along, flip flopped when she needed to and made it to the end. Sad that Sandra got the votes, and Russell none. Twice voted sprint players of the game tells you he was more deserving. Parvati had the best balanced game, but Russell controlled the game from start to finish. Too Bad the Jury votes went with “out of spite” and in a couple of cases based on friendship.. Courtney, Uggh. I would have thought that jurors like JT, Colby would have had the balls to recognise great play. And what is it with the Jury just making statements, I like more questions.

Survivor final results show was a terrible display of the final voting dynamic in place. The best survivor in survivor history (possibly) and the individual responsible for boosting your rating grid again on this show (possibly) has been humiliated, bamboozeled, and completely dismissed by the voting of over emotional self righteous individuals that cannot handle they have been out witted, out played, and out lasted by someone better than themselves. You have 9 emotional wounded people that feel the need to salvage a sense of pride on national television deciding the fate of who receives a very serious sum of money, and in Russel’s case, a very serious title of “Sole Survivor”. I’d suggest your organization check the buzz on the internet about tonight’s tired display and possibly consider playing on Russel’s fan base & giving that man his own show. You might need it to fall back on after this show. Take the lessons of Fox with their American Idol blunder of the famous Chris Daughtry vote off. This was possible the biggest conspiracy ever with the voice of Kathern McFee stating “Thank you for your vote” when fans would punch in their choice for Daughtry! American Idol refused to acknowledge or admit a faulter int the phone system (probably in effort for the famous Fox “SHOCK” response). Thanks to their stunt and the loss of this great artist on American Idol, America Spoke out against it by voting a terrible constent (Senjaih) to the top ten to make their statement American Idol is now a joke. I fear if you do not take action and change this final voting system in Survivor this show too will see it’s parish. Last year was a shock with Russel. This year, even bigger and more upsetting. If these people were the best of the best and understood the game more than ANY OTHER PLAYER and STILL could not vote on best performance rather than personal emotion, yes, changes must be made. I stopped watching this show several years ago. For this very reason. Too many people stay under the radar. Recent “winners” have done so because they were less of a threat and not really better physically or mentally. I don’t care who you are at some point in time, on this show, you will have to lie to get ahead. Why not treat this every other reality show and leave it up to the viewers. Let the viewers vote!!!

I’ve watched Survivor since the 1rst season. This season and last would have sucked without Russel. I was ready for Russel to get voted off this season and turn it off for good, but he made it to the end once again, cause he’s excellent at it. I have watched every episode over the past twenty seasons. It has become clear, over the past two seasons, that the jury members just can’t tolerate someone that has out witted, out played, and out lasted them. The first season, the jury rewarded Richard Hatch for playing the correct way. The past two seasons, the jury has punished Russel for playing a perfect game. The statistical odds of making it to the final two years in a row are by far more difficult than any other accomplishment of any survivor in history. How sad those pathetic jury members are for rewarding someone that has never won a challenge “ever” with a million bucks. Thanks to many of you that know who the real winner over the past two years really should have been. Russel.

Wow, this is a lame result. Sandra’s game was a joke. I’m a loyal Survivor fan. Have seen almost all the seasons, watch it religiously. And this is perhaps the most disappointing ending ever, following what was otherwise a great season.
They need to change the logo for the show. It is no longer about outwitting, outlasting, and outplaying any more. It should now read “ride the coat tails and dont irritate anyone”. Funny how Sandra was involved in all the vote outs, but Russell gets the blame for making her do it. I am never watching the show again.
I am on the west coast and decided to cheat and google who won… and it was Sandra? Apparently this is my punnishment for not waiting and instead going online. Seriously, Sandra? I was holding hope for my guy Russell – damn. Maybe he will get himself on yet another Survivor and go for the third time is the charm bit.

I’m on the west coast and a found out that Sandra won from my brother on the east coast, that’s when I turned off the TV. I’m really disappointed that jury was jealous and mad at the best player. To be honest, I can’t stand Russell, but he plays that game better than anyone. The problem is the human condition…we innately want revenge on those who do us wrong, but the game is designed to back stab. I have an example…if a basketball player told the person he was playing against that he was going to inbound the ball, fake to the right, cross over to his left and spin back to his right then dunk and accomplish it…then that player is awesome. I feel Parvati should have won, but that isn’t my beef. My issue is why is no one talking about all the reality tv spoiler web sites that had the list of tribal votes and jury members and the final 3 and even claiming Sandra as the winner as far back as February!!! Granted, I didn’t look to those sites ’til tonight so not to spoil the show for me, but I knew they were there. Here are the facts.
Let’s call this the bitterness effect. When a person is defeated in any sort of competitive endeavor, they find it very difficult to rationalize their defeat. Usually in life, the people who lose don’t get the ultimate say. In survivor they do.
So what this means in Survivor terms is that very rarely after someone is defeated will they be objective and cast their vote to the most deserving person. Instead the LEAST deserving person is rewarded because they represent the least threat to the voters ego.
Realistically, any single person on that show outside of Parvati or Russel would have won. You substitute Sandra with anyone else and that person wins because Russel and Parvati stepped on too many toes on their way to the finish.
Sandra is probably the least deserving winner in the history of the game. Other people who flew under the radar have at least in most cases been strategic. Sandra took no chances, she COULD have knocked Russel out several times but in the end saw the safe play as sticking with Russel.
What gets me is that every season this sort of thing happens, the person who ran the show lacks the foresight to CALL the jury on that bitterness effect. I think Russels best possibly opening speech would have been to simply say.
“If I don’t win this tonight, it is because you are all sore losers and bitter that you were beaten, and if that is your decision, that is a reflection on your character and inability to separate the game from real life. If by chance we ever play monopoly together, I will let you have park place so we can be friends.”

This is a game called survivor. You have to know how to survive. Whatever it takes to survive. If I played the game. I would lie just like Russell. Look how many times he out smarted the other players. He made the show a success this year. Yes it would have been boring the last few weeks if he had not survived. I loved Russell. The reason he was not liked is because he played and evil wicked game. I commend him for that. If he had not survived the last few weeks. I would have stopped watching the show. The judges picked Sandra because they were sore losers. The same thing happened to Russell last year. The best player should have won. The player who out smarts the other players. The problem is that people in Survivor no longer vote based on the conditions set before them on how to elect a winner. They are to determine the ultimate survivor who outwitted, outlasted and outplayed everyone else. Instead what is happening are juries vote to get revenge. I feel sorry for Russel in a way, but he brings it on himself. He is missing a very important piece to this game and that is the “social game”. That is a very interal part of Survivor. Survivor’s possibly going to lose a lot of viewers unless they continue to keep Russel around. He’s almost like a Survivor mascot.

The “Hero” jury turned out to be a bunch of zeroes! They apparently forgot about the Out Wit, Out Last, and Out Play aspect of the game. They let it become personal. It was nothing but a popularity contest! Russell should have won!!!
Sandra is athietic. For how great the show is, it totally falls apart at the end because of the sob story of a jury … if you hate Russell so much at least acknowledge that Parvati played a great game – a really strong competitor. What did Sandra do to win this? Nothing. What a disappointing conclusion…
I remember the good old survivor shows when the best player actually won. Sandra is a joke. The jury is a bunch of crybabies who got their feelings hurt. BOOO-HOOO. let the viewers vote and you will get a real winner. I can’t stand russell but there is a reason he won player of the game 2 straight times. Get rid of the Jury.
I hated Russell both times on the show. He is evil poison. I understand outwit, outlast, but come on. I love Sandra and glad she won. Obviously she knows what she is doing. Parvati is almost as evil and Russell. Speaking of past Survivors, I don’t think they go hungry enough anymore. The first few seasons they seemed to get really skinny.
Nobody quite seems to have captured the problem yet. Even last night, the survivors didn’t quite seem able to express it either. The problem is that Sandra doesn’t make for good TV. The game of Survivor has this very subtle social layer to it and quite honestly, it may be the game’s failing. When you see someone strive at a challenge, it makes for good tv. When you see someone manipulate or create a strong alliance, it makes for good tv. When you see someone play the social game (keeping your head down, some slight misdirection at the right moments, trying not to be a complete douche), it makes for boring tv.
The game has progressed to the point to where leaders are executed, so all you have left are coat tail riders and sneaky weasels at the end. Sneaky weasels are a lot more fun to watch than coat tail riders. Some of the TV audience are rooting for the weasels but nobody is rooting for the coat tail rider. My problem with survivor isn’t that Russell didn’t win, my issue is that someone who makes good TV didn’t win and because of that the finish felt anti-climactic and hollow.

strategic blunders made by russell 1. he let sandra snooker him into targeting coach 2 he let rupert bluff him into splitting the vote 3 he did not use that split vote to target rupert and colby he let that vote target his pawn candace who rupert and colby would obviously target as a traitor 4.he targeted danielle which cancelled any villian loyalty he might still have had these are strategic blunders ..he outwitted himself and lost final question how did colby and rupert comfortably know to vote candace which saved rupert can we say sandra told them jeri wanted candy gone ie sandra was a hero switchover and the hero majority voted her the winner please feel free to dispute this logic ..IF YOU CAN
parv lost by a numbers game..more heros than villians on the jury. sandra was considered a hero to rupert as she was on with him before and she offered 2 times to kick off russell …1st time candy flipped and shafted it..2nd time rupert and colby trusted russell. home team always votes their own kind ..thats human nature
This is my 4th show, I watch the first two and now I started watching it again, because of Russell. I have a lot respect for Parvati. Watching her beat those guys was great. This little girl with such a bright smile and positive attitude is a winner. Sandra got the I hate Russell vote, she couldn’t beat Russell. I doubt if this was part of her plan, she would have never tried so hard to get ready of him. Russell is too cold blooded and he should have learned from his first attempt, still a better choice then Sandra.
Russell is right, letting the viewer have a say, let us have a vote, have it count as 2 points.

The jury is so upset about that they are all outsmarted and outplayed, that they made it personal. Kinda lost respect for Rupert being such a sissy!! Face it, you are outplayed by smart tactics…. Sadly survival is not always about ethics….and playing the ethical card appears that he pretends to be this great moral person…..(kind of deceiving walking with that rock in your pocket, which is deceitful and lying!!). What a double standard….!!!
Sandra was very lucky to be there and I think any person had a good chance of winning the votes standing against Parv and Russell. Sandra’s main goal was to get rid of Russel….and failed the entire game. If Russell was not sitting with her in the final 3, then she would never have won the $1mil. Put any other two persons next to Sandra and she would never have won… It shows you that being the best does not always imply you will win.
Conclusion: The emotional jury sux.. In the end, it shows how humans are influenced making decisions with their hearts and not their brains…I guess, when your ego is hurt, you will do anything to have revenge… is that right jury..
And obviously the biggest lesson of all: Russell, treat people bad, and you can forget to have any help from them in the future…but when it comes to playing this game you stayed till the end, just like Parv, and that was excellent play from both. Sandra, congratulations, although I don’t think you played a good game at all…..and no, I did not see you play any tactics at all, except trying to get rid of Russell and you failed…

I just rewatched the first 5 minutes of the episode.. russell pissed off every villian by accusing parv of knowing sandra had an idol and then plotting to get rid of her.. what a stupid dumbass. ..Right then he became the model of the statement ..its beeter to be quiet and have people think you a fool ..rather than open yer yap and remove all doubt..Thats why he lost. Sandra may be the LEAST deserving winner in Survivor history, joining the ranks of other pathetic do-nothings such as Natalie from last season and Vecepia from several years ago. CBS owes Russell 2 mil. now for the added revenue he brought in from ratings alone. This not just a Survivor problem but part of a disturbing larger trend in America where laziness and mediocrity are rewarded over hard work and persistence. All you Russell fans wake up. He lost woulda,coulda,shoulda, HE LOST BOTH TIMES. Parvity played Russell like a fool. I think Russell thought he would win instead of Natalie so he saw no reason to change is game play in H vs V. He seems incapable of learning from his mistakes, that is why he will never be sole Survivor.
The only reason that Russell was even permitted to stay in the game until the end by his fellow villains is that they all (except Sandra) wanted to have him sitting next to them in the final three. They all correctly realized and predicted that, because of his total disdain for the social aspect of the game (that which Russell-lovers view as his brillant strategy), Russell would be a non-factor (0 votes) in the Final. Sandra was, in deed, very lucky that the remaining heroes were too stupid to accept her help to oust Russell (because she would have clearly lost against any of the heroes), but luck and the social aspect are essential to win, so yeah, Sandra won and, by definition, she deserved to win. Get over it or if you cannot, by all means please do stop watching and trying to change the great Survivor and tune-in to one of those crap shows that, for whatever reason, actually cares about who you think should win.
The problem with the whole Survivor game is the Jury component. The game at that point deteriorates to a popularity contest with the winner being the person who pisses off the least number of jurors. This means the best player is not necessary the winner. We have seen this twice now with Russell losing even though he has skillfully manipulated his way to the last set of players. Perhaps the game show should take a page from other shows like American Idol or So You Think You Can Dance and allow America to vote on who should win, dispensing with the jury altogether. You would get a much truer result that way. How about people?

Wow, I can’t believe the comments on this board. I watched season 1 and loved the show and loved how Richard Hatch changed votes and decided who would stay and who would go. I lost touch with the show until last Thanksgiving when I got a recap episode of the first 19 days and fell in love with Russell’s cunning ability to do exactly what Richard Hatch did. I was so excited to watch this season when I found out he was going to be on it and I was not disappointed one bit. The show was absolutely fantastic. Every episode had amazing twists and was good till the almost the very end. I was floored when I saw how some of the jury members treated Russell. This game they were playing is for a million dollars and they voted for Sandra as the Sole Survivor. I agree she wasn’t completely horrible at the mental games with others, but she was horrible at all the challenges. I agree with the vast majority that Russell was clearly the best player. I also believe that Paverti hurt Russell’s chances of winning because she played the game also and that forced Russell to backstab her causing more distrust towards him. Also, like so many others have said. I most likely will lose touch with this show as I don’t have as much interest in watching a show that ends so horribly.

Now had he thought about how he would get all these people voted off and still get them to vote for him, then that would have been something. Well,all things considered I would like to apologize for bashing Sandra so hard, particularly jokingly saying she was illegal and Mexican. I knew she was legal, and that she has Puerto Rican, I’m not racist, I have a multicultural family… I was just upset by a less than entertaining winner. I had just got up from watching the episode and was in shock. Though I still don’t think she deserved the win, I guess she pulled it off, so good for her. However I see Parvati as the best candidate under the assumption that no one would vote for Russell the way they were meant to by original Survivor Standards. V.It didnt matter who went against both Russel or Parvoti , they would win.Survivor is a reality show and no one going to change the outcome who won, but they can correct it so in the future this wont happen again.Ask yourself who got the rating up in the last 2 season after a major drop in rating, guess who RUSSELL.If future players watch this epoisode and see that last 2 season, the worst boring player wins.Image this trend continuing how long will survivor last.That right not very long.So change is indeed needed for this reality show 2 continue .

Russell so deserved to loose both 2009 & 2010. I honestly believe the only reason he made it to the end both seasons was becouse other players knew he was so hated that he would not get any votes from the jury. I will give him some credit in some of his stratigic play. but he is a real ass and no person like him ever deserves to win.

I have no beef with who wins or loses in a game where the structure is clearly known to everyone. What I have a problem with, is how many of you clowns do not know how to correctly spell the words “won”, and “lose”. They are not spelled “one”, and “loose”. Please, please, please learn how to spell!!!

The question of whether she deserves to win or not is in the hands of the other survivors, the jury, circumstance, and a little luck. Was she my choice? No, but like someone else said, as long as it was not that snake Russel I am OK with her winning.
Before the All-Star series began, I thought that Sandra had been the most clever winner to date. She was talented, AND played under the radare. AND she did repeated her performance. GREAT player!
If she won, she deserved to win. If the show was only Outplay/Outlast, Russell would have won by a long shot, but Outwit adds the humanness to the game. When you put it in the hands of others, more than just strength and strategy are going to come into play in the final vote. That’s what makes Survivor fun to watch, otherwise it would be just a regular game show – putting it into the hands of others adds a whole other dimension. Russell was NOT the best player because he did not play to that dimension – he believed that people would admire him for making them look like fools. He forgot that they are human and not merely there for his advancement…
Sandra was the only one ever in Survivor to say directly to Russell’s face,”I am against you” and still last. He never thought of her as a threat which is what makes her great. She fooled him, she fooled Parv, and she lasted to the end and played a game that all of the juror members respected. You have to know who you are playing with and become an actor and read the different personalities. If you don’t you are never going to win their votes. Sandra deserved to win both times she was on the show. I loved the way Russell and Parv played but they didn’t get the votes.
