God forbid someone try to add a little spice and sex appeal to the sport of tennis! Venus Williams’ French Open Outfit raised some eyebrows this weekend…but did she go too far? The tennis champ wore a short black lacy corset dress with red piping and nude boyshorts underneath. At times, the minidress looked as though it might slip off her chest, and her nude shorts were constantly visible as she played.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Venus explained that her look was “about illusion,” which, she noted, is “a lot of my motif this year” when it comes to clothes design. She also said she might not wear that particular dress again on court. Then again, perhaps she will. She’s not sure. Venus brings eight or ten outfits to every tournament, in case she wins a lot and has to keep playing. Though she doesn’t have the best track record at the French Open, she plans on staying awhile this year. “I always — goes without saying — believe I can win,” she said.
