Abc’s finale of Dancing with the Stars last night was boring and predictable because everyone knew from the very beginning that Nicole Scherzinger was going to win. Tonight’s finale of American Idol was the complete opposite, as Lee Dewyze unexpecedly took home the title of American Idol 2010.
Everyone thought that Crystal had the competition in the bag from the beginning. The only contestant coming even remotely close to beating out Bowersox was her Final Two counterpart Lee Dewyze. Who would have imagined that he would have what it takes to win this year’s prestigious title.
We’re pretty sure viewers everywhere are outraged at tonight’s finale results. Was Lee a good singer? Yes. Did he deserve to win tonight? No. Crystal was clearly the better singer but isn’t that how American Idol usually works, is it?
Doesn’t the runner-up often sell more albums than the winner? Last year’s winner Kris Allen hasn’t even made a splash in the water compared to the tidal waves Adam Lambert has been creating since the 2009 finale. So many of the runner ups end up more successful than the winners, so we wouldn’t worry if we were you, Crystal.
You and your baby are going to be just fine.
But the question still remains, Did the most deserving American Idol win – or did Crystal deserve this year’s title?
Lee is awesome! He absolutely deserved to win. They are both undeniably talented but Crystal limits herself. Lee shows much more depth and is MUCH more marketable.
This popular vote thing is not working…the jucdges should have a share in the final determination. Sympathy vote will always skew results. If everybody was to vote again, those that did not vote because they thought crystal had it in the bag would vote. I am done with this BS of a program with Simon leaving it will be BS

I totally think Lee deserved it! He is so much better than Crystal. She just sings with her guitar like she is in a subway station and it’s annoying. Lee has a much broader voice and is much more marketable! Crystal is just too ugly.

At first I wanted Crystal to win. However, as she became more cocky and arrogant I decided I wanted Lee to win. I think he deserves it as he showed more growth, change and potential than Crystal.

Lee deserved it. Crystal was a one note singer. Sounded the same every time she sang. She did well last night but Lee was consistant and you can actually understand what he’s saying when he sings. I found Crystal hard to understand.

Most of the winners of AI end up heading towards obscurity – Clay Aiken, Taylor Hicks, and many more. What is Kris Allen doing? He won but Adam Lambert has had the biggest success. Lee won because a bunch of love-struck young chics motivated by his cute appearance but with poor judgement about actual voice and performance ability, voted for him, while fewer total viewers bothered to make the call for Crystal, the more talented of the two. I predict Simon with have Crystal under contract before the week is over!!!

I predict that Crystal will go much farther than Lee will whether he won American Idol or not. He is like a clone of the 2009 winner, Kris Allen. Lee was the safe bet but I am sure that Simon Cowell will make sure Crystal has a great career. It was wrong for Simon to predict on Sunday/Monday of this week that Lee would win. Then Crystal had the best performance last night. Shame on Simon.

Given that we are looking for an “American Idol”.. First let’s start by saying they all are good. Then let’s figure out how in the hell, two seasons in a row, the winner did not win. Adam Lambert was not my cup of tea, but he was good and a great showman and could sing. Chrystal Bowersox won this season hands down. So who is doing the voting and exactly who is counting the votes? I voted over 3,000 times, my family and friends each got through over 45 thousand times. that is about 8 people, I saw on the TV station in Toled a family with eight cell phones and 4 home phones all being used. They said they hand gotten in a few thousand votes at that time. So, no I know Crystal should have won hands down, so is this show rigged?

Personally, I was rooting for Lee the whole time, he just seems like a humble and generously nice guy with a good voice. I also loved Crystal, she is incredibly unique and knows who she is as an artist. I couldn’t tell you who will do better, because neither of them is the classic pop artist, but they are both fantastic singers and fantastic people. I wish the best of luck for both of them.

American Idol is in its own way, a weird version of the Pop/Top-40 record labels and the recording industry… It’s rare that true talent prevails! Think about many of the artists who are signed with major recording contracts. Have you heard some of these artists perform live (without added sound efx/enhancements)? It’s dreadful! The songs that they record, they really can’t sing them as well as they should… That’s why Lee won Idol tonight! American Idol wanted someone that they could package-up and put out quickly who had a more marketable appeal to younger audiences who are buying most of this highly studio edited stuff! Lee totally tanked last night, showing that he is actually a very mediocre singer, yet the little girls still come out in droves to vote for him. Lee won because people liked that he could sing a song without screaming. Crystal seem to just shout each song and bang the guitar. When Lee sang Hallelujah I was convinced he should win. I know Crystal will do great but I think everyone is wrong when they say Lee won’t be around in a year.

Depth? i’m sorry, Lee Dewyze has as much depth as a kiddy pool. Crystal Bowersox has an angelic voice that carried and stood in the group performances. She far and away the best singer in the top 12. Listen to Crystal’s original songs, especially “Mama” and “Farmer’s Daughter” on youtube and tell me this girl doesnt have depth. Her lyrics are not contrived, they’re original and intelligent. I am not a teen, I’m an adult that liked Lee’s singing. If Lee won by 2% it just means not everyone likes the type of music Crystal sang. She is very good but so is Lee. If you liked her so much, you should have been on the phone voting for her. I do think her weird clothes and ugly hair hurt her.
Why bother to get upset about who wins AI. Let’s face it– the ones that won because they were the better singer/performer went on to great careers or are on their way to great careers. Those that didn’t deserve to win were outshone by the second place finishers. I suspect that Crystal’s career will outshine Lee’s, but only time will tell. Why not celebrate the fact that AI brings some great talent to the attention of the public and launches careers regardless of who wins. Even some of the ‘only good talent’ have had wonderful careers launched because of AI exposure. It will be interesting to see if AI survives after Simon Cowell brings the X Factor to the USA. In some ways, that show is more interesting and has more production value than does AI.

I understand why everyone loves Crystal, but speaking as a trained singer, Lee is by far the superior performer. Listen closely to Crystal’s performances… she’s got a lot of vocal power, but no control over it. Any time she tries to sing something softly, you can hear her wavering off-key. She’ll be an amazing performer one day, but she needs a LOT more training and practice to harness that huge voice. I also think it might not be a bad idea for her to work on that squinting thing she does when she’s singing something emotional… she looks like she’s in PHYSICAL pain instead of just emotional.
Lee absolutely deserved to win!! He is very marketable, has the more commercial voice, and is more likeable. Crystal is a nice artist who will have a very nice musical career. But she is limited in her style. Lee can go Rythm and Blues, Rock, even Jazz. Lee won because the vote and many polls showed that he garnered a larger fan base, and that make sense because he appeals to more groups and thus a wider group of people. It is inaccurate to say that fans everywhere are upset with the decision. Uphappy fans are naturally more apt to voice their unhappiness than those than are happy with the decision. So unless something very wrong took place like last year when 33 million votes came out of a state that has 6 million people in it, the people have spoken. It’s always so unbelievable to hear people cry foul when they legitimately lose. GO LEE!!! HAve a great career! You are a nice person as well as a great artist!

People you are missing the point.. The reason Adam and Crystal didn’t win is OPEN voting. When they give 4 hours to vote instead of the usual 2 and you KNOW who is voting for the full time whatever it is: 14 year old girls…you will skew the vote. 14 year old girls only care for cute boys thus Lee and that other idot from last year. Every vote show allows 10 votes per method period. You don’t need the judges just make the voting fair to everyone.
Lee won because his voice and his style of music is current. Crystal is a better singer and performer, but her music (holy toledo for example) is not something most young Americans would want to listen to when they are marinated in the music of Gaga and Kesha and the likes. Adam Lambert is more successful than Chris Allen not because he is a better singer, but because his song “what do you want from me” was more catchy and pop than Allen’s “Live like youre dying”. I think America has chosen the right winner, as I believe that Lee will make amazing hits.

They need to change the way they do the voting. It should be one damn phone call, or up to 3 (like they did for Biggest Loser to vote in who was in the Top 3). The young voters will vote for 2 hours (or 4, as was the case for the final vote night). Otherwise, the results are skewed and only reflect those in their teens and 20′s. 30, 40, and 50 year olds and up aren’t going to vote for 2 or 4 damn hours! :/

crystal was the most versatile singer. hands down. lee, frankly, is commercial and boring. unless you only listen to what you hear on the radio, which is the point of AI. it’s all about finding the next big radio pop star. but as a student of music performance, when it comes to hitting the right notes and pitch accuracy, lee is honestly hard to listen to. i think he’s very average, and from the beginning i couldn’t understand how he got in the competition in the first place.
crystal isn’t really all that unique in her style, either, but she can sing true to any genre and still make it own. however, in comparison to most contestants on AI she’s in a league of her own.
i don’t think lee will be any more of an idol than anyone who’s won. i look forward to crystals career as i hope it will open people up to different genres of music.
ps. this is not a most improved or most attractive contest. it’s a singing contest. that’s why i tuned back in this season, i heard there was a phenomenal singer that didn’t fit the norm.

Gosh, everyone’s getting so angry over a television program! Obviously both artists were very talented and very different, but in the end Lee did win. It may be true that pre-teens and moms do most of the voting, but even so the majority of voters chose him. There’s always going to be people that agree with America’s choice, and people who disagree. But both of them are going to release albums and do just fine in the music world. When you look at all the successful winners (Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks) and successful contestants (Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken) it is obvious that you can have a fabulous career no matter what the outcome. My point is, although people may disagree on who “should have” won AI this season, in the end they’re both going to get some big breaks and release some stellar music. Good luck to both of them!

Like I said before I’m not a teenage girl but I’m not old. I voted for Lee because I liked his type of music more than I did Crystals. A lot of people liked her type of music but 2% more likes Lees. I do think the fact that she continued week after week wearing the tackey clothes, horrible looking hair and the long feather earring in one ear and some other thing in the other ear every appearance on stage got old. I did not like her style of singing or the funky way she looked. Her voice was great but her songs and style of dress sucked.

Ok guys, clearly very few of you who have posted comments, know ANYTHING about Idols! It is a contest yes, of what? Vocal ability, role model material, looks or overall package? As a singer myself, I sat and voted for Lee, simply because he can sing well and has that lovable puppy dog look about him (yeah .. and I’m 40!). Crystal screeches and does not have the ‘right’ look about her, despite having stage presence in abundance, something that will come to Lee in time, with experience and confidence. The right choice was made. End of story.

I will not watch Idol again. Three years in a row that the mosttalented signer was not picked. The voting process needs to change if Idol wants to survive. Lee will be forgotten.

i think that lee wasn’t that great of a singer but he was better that soibon or what ever her name was, she was always screaming whenever she sang which was very annoying.

Lee Dewyze is a BILLION times better! And FYI, Kris is a very bad example of an American Idol winner! Just look at Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson! They were both American Idol winners! Okay, everyone here knows that Crystal was the better singer. We all know that. Lee just won because of teenage girls voting for Lee because he is “cute” or whatever. I don’t think people out there should vote for people becuase they think he is cute. I think they shouldvote for the most talented person, which is obviously Crystal. She blew away the audience at American Idol. So deal with it.

I don’t think any of them had the it factor. They should have started the auditions over and tried agine. None of them were American Idols in my opinion, and no one deserved to win.

reading through these comments ive realized one thing. every single comment in favor of lee said they thing hes cute and all the comments in favor of crystal say shes a good singer. it just goes to show that the voting system on these shows are compleatly controlled by a bunch horny 12 year old girls with tingling pussys. it was never about whos the better singer, its all just a fucking beauty pagan. lees singing soudns like a squarl that just got hit by a car!

It almost seems as if the one who doesn’t win, has more success. They certainly have more freedom over what they do, which might help them if they’re good. Kris, for instance, maybe he could have done better under other management, who knows, maybe winning Idol is kind of a curse, but being in the top 5 is awesome. Seems like the winners for the most part, are more slaves to what the producers,etc want them to do, which is be ‘pop’y and fit in a box. Other than Carrie Underwood, who went country, and has sold the most.
Yes lee deserved to win. I loved crystal and lee both but I wanted lee to win because he showed the most grow as an artist. But that’s just my opinion.
