Looking for a fresh face this summer but aren’t sure the best techniques for perfecting your application? Don’t worry, we’re here to help.
We could name off hundreds of tips that will help you get the clean and fresh face you desire, but too many tricks can make it difficult to determine what’s right for your complexion, face shape and features. Luckily, there are a few standard makeup application tips that will brighten every face, regardless of your unique features.
The first thing to remember is less is more. Don’t cake on foundation; apply a light coat that matches your skin tone. Next, apply a light bronzer across your cheeks, chin, nose and forehead (so the color blends into the foundation). Make sure you’ve brushed your foundation and bronzer along your neck and chest as well, so that your face matches the rest of your body.
Now that you’ve created a nice base, apply a bit of light pink blush to the apples of your cheeks. This will create dimension and make your cheek bones stand out (see photos below). Once you’ve applied your blush, it’s time to move onto your eyes and lips.
Keeping your eyes and lips light are key to a perfect fresh face. A light gold coat of eye shadow, combined with a light coat of mascara will be just enough for your eyes (If you’re going out, you may want to add a bit of darker liner to the bottom of your eyes for a smokier effect – see photos below). When it comes to your lips, you’ll want to choose a light pink gloss that’s just a shade darker (or brighter, depending on the look you’re going for) than your skin tone. Voila! You’ve just mastered the look of a fresh face.
