When Al Gore and Tipper Gore announced they were going to separate after 40 years of marriage, the inevitable question popped up: was there cheating involved? Though all reports initially lacked juicy scandals, Star magazine has reported that Al Gore and Laurie David were romantically involved for two years. They worked together on the 2007 Oscar-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, which David produced.
According to US Weekly, the Laurie David / Al Gore affair rumor is completely untrue. “This is completely and totally untrue,” said Laurie’s rep, who wasn’t even called before Star published the story. In case you still thought the gossip rag contained reputable journalism or something.
A source close to David added: “As far as I know, they haven’t even spoken in two years. I have no idea where this came from.”
And Laurie herself, a 52 year-old film producer who split from Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David in 2007, told The Huffington Post, “It’s a total fabrication. I adore both Al and Tipper. I look at them both as family. And I have happily been in a serious relationship since my divorce.”
Hmm..”haven’t spoken in two years” isn’t quite the same as “I look at them both as family.” But I still bet the affair is completely made up.
What’s next? Ridiculous cheating rumors about Al and Tipper’s daughter Karenna Gore Schiff and separated hubby Andrew Schiff?
