The eagerly anticipated wedding of the decade – the marriage of Chelsea Clinton and her investment-banker fiancé, Marc Mezvinsky – will take place this Saturday at a private estate north of Manhattan.
With a guest list of 500 A-list celebrities, politicians and socialites, a gourmet dinner, exquisite place settings, amped up security and even $15,000 luxury porta-potties, the New York Daily News estimates the wedding cost somewhere between $3 million and $5 million.
If you’re running the numbers, with an expected total of 500 guests and a budget ranging between $3-5 million, that’s $6,000 a head!
On the scale of celebrity weddings, the more conservative cost estimate for the Clinton-Mezvinsky wedding falls half a million dollars behind the nuptials of Liza Minelli and David Guest and $1 million ahead of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ 2006 marriage in an Italian castle.
Celebrity event planner, Diann Valentine told the New York Daily News, “It’s bigger and more important than a celebrity wedding. It will certainly be the most influential of setting trends. If anything becomes public knowledge it will immediately set a trend.”
Here’s hoping those $15,000 portable toilets catch on. They look awesome!
