Obama on The View 2010 Sparks Controversy – Watch!

President Obama is scheduled to appear on today’s episode of The View and many are furious over Barack’s decision to sit down and field questions from the controversial women.

Today’s episode marks the first time a sitting President has ever appeared on Daytime television. Yes, Obama has sat down with the ladies before (twice actually) but, at that time, he was not yet elected.

So what has everyone up in arms?

After reading several political blogs and researching the views from many Americans, the problem doesn’t seem to lie in Obama’s choice to appear on daytime television but more for his choice of venue.

According to Gov. Ed Rendell, The View is comparable to “The Jerry Springer Show.” He adds “I think the president should be accessible, should answer questions that aren’t pre-screened, but I think there should be a little bit of dignity to the presidency.”

What we can’t understand is how it’s perfectly accepted (and even encouraged) for Obama to go on such shows as David Letterman (who, let’s face it, isn’t exactly the perfect portrait of an upstanding American) and Jay Leno but when he tries to sit down with a group of educated, opinionated women all hell breaks loose?

What’s the difference?

The sooner someone explains to me how The View is more controversial and somehow less deserving of an interview with the President, the sooner I can put this debate to rest. Until then, I’m going to have to file the opinions of the individuals who are furious over Obama’s decision under “sexist” and “irrelevant.”

But hey, if you can explain it to me, go for it!

We’ll have the complete footage when it’s available but until then, watch this sneak peek below:
