Saks Fifth Avenue Now Offering Bigger Sizes

If you are a plus-size woman who loves fierce fashion, but have felt snubbed by your favorite high end brands, you will soon be able to find your own size at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York.

Currently, the largest size available by the super high-end labels sold at Saks is a size 10, but that will soon change.   Fashionistas will be able to find larger sizes of clothing from favorites like  Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, YSL, Fendi and Roberto Cavalli this fall/winter season.  Saks is extending their sizes across the board to at least a size 14, with some select brands going up to a size 20.  This will make Saks the only major retailer in New York to sell plus-sized women’s clothing from these top labels.

Just like most high-priced pieces in high-priced venues, only one of each size will be stocked for most of the one(ish) of a kind pieces.

The bigger sizes, unfortunately, will only be available in New York, but if the newly introduced sizes sell well, you can expect to see the extended sizes sold in more Saks stores across the country.

What do you think: Is this yet another side effect of American’s expanding waist lines, or the fashion industry relaxing on their ‘fashion is for pin thin movie stars’ stance?

  1. Larger sizes in stores a side effect of America’s expanding waist lines? Um, what? Does anyone over a size 8 not deserve to wear nice clothes, too?

  2. It’s about time there is something available that is fashion forward, quality-made, and hopefully well-fitted. Over size 12, that is extremely difficult to find. Hope they’re available online too as we don’t have Saks in Seattle.

  3. It is about time that some store carried sizes 16-18 in designer tops/fashion. I am sooooo ready.
