Today is 09-02-10, and to mark the once in a lifetime occasion people nationwide are paying tribute to the popular soap. (The original. Not the inferior remake, so I’m told.)
It’s the one and only day this century that will line up perfectly with the now infamous California zip code.
The LA suburb is ready to capitalize on the date, with an event where guests can drink wine and rub elbows with the city’s mayor, and for some unknown reason, Larry King – a man likely older than the ages of every viewer who watched the original series combined.
Later, the evening will feature a performance by Natasha Bedingfield – whose most notable song is curiously associated with another popular show set in the Los Angeles area.
Beverly Hills 90210 aired from 1990 – 2000 and followed a group of teenagers from wealthy Southern Californian families, who became involved in increasingly outlandish soap opera plots.
Now, my parents never allowed me to actually watch the show – I was 7 when it first aired, and by the time I would have been able to watch it, Beverly Hills 90210 just wasn’t as popular anymore so I never got into it – but The Washington Post has said that the clips below are some of the best 90210 moments. I’m hoping they’re right.
Enjoy! And Happy 90210 Day!
