Katy Perry: Dos Pueblos High School Performance (Watch!)
Katy Perry returned to her old high school, Dos Pueblos in Goleta, California today, where she played a surprise concert for the school’s current students.
“Maybe you don’t know, but I went to high school here,” the pop star said, beginning her set in the school’s cheerleading uniform. “I was on this very stage many lunchtimes. I was such a showoff. There was a pumpkin pie-eating contest, which I won, and a freestyling contest that I lost.”
Changing into a red and white striped mini dress, Katy performed hits like, “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot and Cold” in front of 2,000 students.
The singer also told the packed auditorium that she wasn’t the “most popular kid” and her class, singling out one guy in particular and remembering how he “never wanted to date her.”
“What’s up now?” she asked, then quickly dedicated the next song in her set to him, titled, “UR So Gay.”
According to TMZ, the idea for the concert was all Katy’s idea – and the school thought it would be a cool experience for the kids.
The pop star also played hits like “Waking Up in Vegas” and “Teenage Dream,” but was told to keep the act, “school appropriate.”
