Michaele Salahi Has Multiple Sclerosis
The notorious ‘Real Housewives of DC’ star and White House party crasher is the subject of a new book, ‘Cirque du Salahi: Be Careful Who You Trust,’ by Diane Dimond. The novel is said to reveal a few secrets about the Michaele’s life, including one shocking secret: Michaele’s struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.
“I have multiple sclerosis,” she admits. Though she was diagnosed with the potentially crippling nervous system disorder 17 years ago, the reality star tells PEOPLE magazine why she kept quiet about her fight for so long.
“No one wants to be seen as sickly,” she explains. “And I didn’t want to be pitied.” But a positive attitude has helped to keep Michaele going. “The only way I can deal with it is to smile and act like I can get through it,” she said.
Fame Crawler writes that the book claims that MS is what has made her so thin – something that has attracted criticism from other ‘Real Housewives of DC’ cast members who have called her “anorexic” and “a poor role model for girls.” However, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society website does not list weight loss as one of the symptoms of the debilitating disease.
In bookstores today, ‘Cirque du Slahi: Be Careful Who You Trust,’ also talks about crashing the White House party and Michaele’s alleged past hook up with Journey’s Neal Schon.
