Ahhh September! Although, I’m sad to see Summer go there’s one good thing about this time of year & it’s Fashion! Warm & cozy outerwear and deep autumn hues make this the perfect time of the year for fashion.
This year, there’s no better place to go for all your fashion essentials then at Macy’s.We met with Macy’s fashion expert Martha Gil de Montes and asked for her advice on all the latest Fall Fashion trends for 2010!
1. In your opinion, what is the one must-have clothing piece and accessory from Macy’s fall fashion line?
This fall, the one must-have clothing piece for women is the Statement Jacket. Whether it’s a trench, collarless, military- or menswear-inspired, or an anorak, women will want to own the piece that best represents their personal style. Statements Jackets are fabulous because they’re so versatile – you can dress them up or down or belt them to create a totally fresh look! The greatest thing about a Statement Jacket is that it can be your go-to piece no matter what the occasion! If you splurge on just one accessory this fall – definitely do the Over-the-Knee Boot – because they’re hot! Celebrities can’t get enough of them – and neither can we! They’re meant to be noticed – so the faint at heart need not buy. Fashionistas — this is it — throw on your new kicks with a short dress, skirt, or jeggings and make the bold fashion statement you were born to make!
2. What do you anticipate the popular color for fall will be this year and which piece from the fall fashion line best captures this trend?
Fall is an exceptional season for color – Rich shades of earth, rust, red and ochre give fall a warm and cozy feel. But, if you’re looking for a color that will add some punch to your wardrobe, try violets and fuchsia or a spicy orange. Collector pieces like the blouse, the jacket and cardigan are all great pieces to pull off this prism of color. This season they’re re-worked with skilled fabric manipulation, precious metals and brocades, and work beautifully to add layers to any outfit keeping you feeling luxurious, sophisticated, and best of all, fashionable this fall.
3. If you had to pick one male & female celebrity that represents the Macy’s fall line who would it be and why?
There is something for everyone at Macy’s this fall—from the teen who looks to Lola, or young adult who admires Jessica Simpson, to any woman who loves Martha Stewart for her home – the ladies are sure to find something they love. And, for the guys who want to give off a hip vibe, we have Sean Jean (by Sean Combs) or Ed Hardy for an edgy look, or if you’re more of the business tycoon – try dress shirts from Donald J. Trump. Macy’s is America’s department store, so we offer a wide selection of merchandise from America’s favorite celebs, so you never have to pick one person’s style/label you can mix it up for the whole family!”
