National Coffee Day: Free Dunkin Donuts Coffee!

Wednesday, September 29 is National Coffee Day – and Dunkin Donuts wants you to get your java on for free! Unfortunately, Turn10 reports that you have to visit a participating Dunkin’ Donuts location in Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts. Dunkin’ Donuts will donate .50-cents from each cup sold that day to Special Olympics Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

You can also get a free cup of joe at Bennett’s Fresh Roast in Fort Myers, FL,  Orlando-based Barnie’s Coffee and Tea Company and Bohemian Coffeehouse in Melrose, MA.

Sorry, west coasters. I checked Starbucks, Peet’s, Coffee Bean and It’s a Grind and they don’t seem to be participating in this national holiday. Lame! Still, here are a few reasons why you should indulge in coffee today:

1. Caffeine may help you avoid mistakes at work

2. It’s nearly calorie-free

3. WebMD says people who drink coffee are less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia, and they also have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes.
