Dan Gordon-Levitt AKA “Burning Dan” Dies at 36
Dan Gordon-Levitt, the older brother of Inception and 500 Days of Summer star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, has passed away. He was just 36 years old.
Joseph posted the sad news online at hirRECord, an online community for artists and filmmakers that the brothers had created together. Although Joseph doesn’t say the cause of death, Dan was known as “Burning Dan” because of his dangerous work as a fire-spinning artist.
“BURNING dAN brightly embodied that bold beastly bliss sometimes referred to as ‘the creative spirit.’” Joseph wrote. “He was my chief collaborator on the foundational incarnations of hitRECord.org over the years and continues to inspire us ever the more. He would absolutely positively insist that we not let this bad news deter us on our collective mission. That said, I might not feel up to it for a little while.”
Jospeh, who has referred to his brother as his “first superhero,” also added: “So let’s celebrate him, he’s f—ng awesome.”
In a recent interview with PopEater, Dan had equally awesome things to say about Joseph: “It’s wonderful to be mistaken for him. He’s really, really awesome.”
