Teen Mom Amber Portwood: In A Lot of Trouble, Breaking Down

Amber Portwood Teen MomTeen Mom’s Amber Portwood is in a lot of trouble for attacking her fiancé Gary Shirley in front of their daughter Leah (and an MTV film crew).  Perez Hilton reports that in Indiana, domestic violence in front of a child under the age of 14 can be a felony.

The young mother is also being investigated by the Department of Child Protective Services (DCS), who have the right to interview friends, neighbors and other witnesses regarding the domestic abuse, according to Indiana State law.

“Failure to report child abuse/neglect is a crime.  Indiana law requires any person who has reason to believe that a child is a victim of abuse or neglect to make an immediate oral report to DCS or to law enforcement,” Perez notes on his website.

Child protective services is currently in the “assessment phase” of their investigation and will likely be requesting interviews with Amber and Gary soon – news that has the reality star “breaking down” and “crying uncontrollably,” Radar Online reports.

“The stress of the situation is taking its toll on Amber,” a source told the website.  However, despite their differences, Gary insists that Amber is “a great mother.”

Through the allegations the insider says Amber has been focusing on Leah – taking her to the park, reading to her each night, and teaching her to count.

“She hasn’t put a hand on Gary since,” the source claims.  “Amber is a totally different person [than what is seen on the show.]”
