Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus (Miley’s Parents) File For Divorce
Miley Cyrus‘ parents Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have filed for divorce. People Magazine reports that papers were filed Wednesday in Tennessee citing irreconcilable differences. The couple was together for 17 years and have five children together, including Miley and her little sister Noah, a budding fashion designer.
“As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family,” Billy and Tish said in a statement. “We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.”
Billy and Tish secretly married back in 1992, a month before Miley was born. Billy Ray was a country-pop star known for the hit “Achy Breaky Heart,” which earned in $40 million in just one year – but when Miley was born, he put his career on hold to focus on his family. Interestingly enough, while Tish was pregnant with Miley, another woman was also pregnant with Billy Ray’s child. “He came to me and just, you know, said that we needed to talk and he immediately thought that I would leave,” Tish said.
