Shape Magazine received so many complaints regarding the cover of their October issue, editor-in-chief Valerie Latona felt compelled to send an email apology to some of the magazine’s subscribers.
LeAnn posed in a skimpy red bikini for the cover, along with the words, “how working out saved me.” Seeming to sympathize with LeAnn – who admitted to cheating on her ex-husband with then-married actor Eddie Cibrian – the magazine shocked and outraged numerous readers.
“You are all in good company,” Valerie wrote [via Pop Eater], “as you all agree Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover.”
“Please know that our putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal – but to show (through her story) how we are all human. And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in what she said was her most difficult personal moment,” the editor continued.
“But it did not come across that way… And for that, I’m terribly sorry. I hope that we can do better the next time for those of you that will give us another chance.”
The email was signed, “Humbly, Valerie.”

The cover didn’t bother me at all. No one knows what was going on in LeAnn or Eddies marriages except them.
Well it bothered me. I will never buy this magazine again.
You don’t glorify the behavior. Certainly, no one knows about their marriages. What I do know for certain is that they were MARRIED. And no matter how you slice it, no matter how you try to justify it, what she did was flat out wrong. Period. And to put her on the cover of any magazine is in questionable taste.
NO! they are two completely separate issues. People need to learn the difference between personal lives and business.
What she does in her private life shouldn’t have anything to do with her weight loss (directly). Although I don’t approve of her behavior, I see no reason for an apology.
