Amber Portwood to be Monitored by Child Services for 6 Months

Amber PortwoodShe may be used to thousands of fans watching her on Teen Mom, one of MTV’s most popular reality shows, but Amber Portwood will now have to get used to the idea of Indiana’s Child Protective Services watching her as well.

The star has voluntarily agreed to enroll in an Informal Adjustment, a program implemented to protect the safety and well-being of a child.

“Amber is under a lot of pressure largely because of media scrutiny and misinformation but what happened today was Amber is going to enter into an informal adjustment with The Division of Child Services,” her lawyer, Robert Schembs told Radar Online.

The program can last up to six months.

As part of the Informal Adjustment, Amber may be required to periodically report to a probation officer or perform community service.

“We are putting local resources in place, such as family classes or support mechanism, including therapy so the child does not have to be removed from the home to remain safe,” Child Services spokesperson Ann Houseworth said.

In an episode of Teen Mom which aired on MTV last month, Amber was caught on tape hitting, slapping, and kicking her then-boyfriend Gary Shirley.  The incident sparked over 300 calls to Indiana’s Department of Child Services.
