It’s all red carpets and designer duds for Heidi Montag – a stark contrast to the economic hardship her family is suffering back in Colorado. According to People Magazine, Heidi’s estranged mom Darlene Egelhoff has had a rough year. Timberlines, the restaurant Darlene owns with her husband, Tim, was forced to close its doors after 21 years.
“We’re a tourist town, so our business department was dependent on the economy,” Darlene said. “Business started declining. We tried to make the necessary adjustments, but we were just not quite in time. We were forced to close because of the economy.”
Darlene even had to call Heidi for help at the end of last year. The restaurant was struggling, and I was crying on the phone,” she said. “I fought it for so long, but finally, I said, ‘Tax guys are on the way. It’s $8,000.’ Heidi very generously wired me a check that day. That kept the restaurant afloat for at least six months. It was so generous and helpful.” I’m glad she at least sent something, considering she treated herself to ten plastic surgeries in one day back in November.
Now Heidi’s mom works cleaning houses, and the family has taken a hit. “The work is sporadic and competitive,” Darlene says. “My work is not enough to pay the bills. We need other work immediately. [My son] Sky is eligible for free lunch at school and is proud to take advantage of it.”
Darlene has been estranged from Heidi since February, but says “I love Heidi more every day, even though I don’t talk to her. I love her unconditionally. I have total confidence that we will have a loving, strong relationship again.”
I hope they can work it out!
