Emerging Hollywood star Amber Heard proudly showed off her girlfriend, Tasya van Ree, at the GLAAD 25th anniversary celebration on Friday. Amber, the star of ‘Zombieland’ and ‘Pineapple Express,’ worked the red carpet with Tasya, a photographer, for the first time in their two-year relationship.
“She’s beautiful!” the actress gushed. “I mean, you’d have to be crazy not to want to go out with her!”
Speaking to the gay rights-focused entertainment site, AfterEllen.com [via The Huffington Post], Amber said that she decided to come out after reflecting on her role in the current struggle for equality.
“I think when I became aware of my role in the media, I had to ask myself an important question, ‘Am I part of the problem?’ And I think that when millions and millions of hard-working, taxpaying Americans are denied their rights and denied their equality you have to ask yourself what are the factors that are an epidemic problem and that’s what this is.”
“Injustice can never be stood for,” she continued, adding, “I personally think that if you deny something or you hide something you’re inadvertently admitting it’s wrong. I don’t feel like I’m wrong.”
Amber will soon share the screen with Johnny Depp, playing the actor’s love interest in ‘The Rum Diaries.’
