Katy Perry to take Russell Brands Last Name
Katy Perry will soon be Katy Brand. The pop star told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday that she’s in the process of taking her new husband Russell Brand’s last name. She’s even informally been going by Katy Brand since their wedding on October 23, 2010.
“Like if I’m at an event or something like that, and they want special attention, they go, ‘Mrs. Brand!’ And I go shwoosh [demonstrating that she looks back],” Katy told Ellen [via PEOPLE].
Still newlyweds, Katy and Russell remain hopelessly in love after their whirlwind courtship, which culminated in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony at a tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan, India.
And while the singer admits that marriage is hard work, she says that with Russell, “there’s never a dull moment.”
“He’s a smorgasbord of things,” Katy continued. “A sense of humor is really important in our household. That’s how we de-stress, and we like to have a laugh.”
