The Elle Beauty Sculpt DVD is set in the outdoors, which is a nice change from the usual indoor workouts. Led by trainer Sara Haley, the video also features Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover and wife of tennis player Andy Roddick, Brooklyn Decker. I thought I wouldn’t be a fan of watching a swimsuit model while I exercise, but honestly she’s very easy to like and she really adds to the workout!
There are two 25 minute workouts that you’ll find challenging yet really fun. They are interval based and even though it doesn’t say on the box – you’ll need some weights to go with the video. If you’re just starting out I would say 3-5lbs is a good start. You can adjust as your fitness level improves. If I could guess, I would say it is a more intermediate workout. They incorporated beginner modifications which is great so if you’re just starting out it might seem very challenging in the beginning. But don’t fret! Keep working at it and you’ll be using less and less of the beginner modifications in no time. My favourite part of the workout was the fact that it was fast paced. You start with one slow interval followed by two fast paced intervals on each side. Even though she doesn’t really instruct much along the way, I never felt lost.
The DVD extras were also a plus! Decker and Haley walk through some light and quick workouts you can do while traveling as well as a bit about super foods. The videos were very “Elle” like and played out like an article from the magazine which was nice.
All in all this was a great workout if you’re at the intermediate level. If you’re a beginner, I would start with lower weights and the beginner modifications and just work through it!
