The drama never ends with Lindsay Lohan (too bad it’s always off-screen). People Magazine reports that L.A. Superior Court Judge Elden Fox may be sending the 24 year-old rehabber back to jail. Lindsay is being investigated for battery against a rehab worker at the Betty Ford Clinic, where she was ordered to stay until Jan 3.
If the latest allegations are true, it just spells disaster for Lindsay,” says L.A. criminal defense attorney Richard Hirsch, who’s not involved with the case. “After all the chances she’s had, the judge may have no other option left.”
Lindsay has already served three sentences behind bars – and when the judge last sent her to the Betty Ford Clinic, he said, “I agree that relapse is a part of recovery, but I’m not going to be manipulated.” Her next sentence could last for six months.
“Judge Fox isn’t one to make idle threats,” says another L.A. criminal defense attorney, Steve Sitkoff. “Especially if he decides that Lindsay was the instigator in the scuffle with the Betty Ford employee, that’ll make him more likely to punish her with jail instead of treatment.”
As for the rehab worker: she was fired, though MSNBC reports that Betty Ford spokesman Russ Patrick said she was terminated for identifying patients at the center in an interview and “disclosing a privileged document.” Releasing confidential celeb medical information has been an issue for some time in the state of California, and the Betty Ford Clinic is also under investigation.
