Biggest Celebrity Break Ups 2010

Biggest Celebrity Break Ups 2010As we anxiously await the end of 2010, we’re sure there are more than a few celebrities who will appreciate the fresh start 2011 will bring.  Let’s take a look back at the year’s biggest celebrity break ups.

10. Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas

What seemed like a match made in Disney heaven was short-lived for the teen stars, who started their relationship in March, but ended it in May.  The former love birds continued to tour together however, and while Joe moved on to dating Twilight star Ashley Greene, Demi checked into rehab to deal with “emotional and physical” issues.

9. Vanessa Hudgens & Zac Efron

These high school musical sweethearts seemed to have what it takes to go the distance, however, distance – primarily their hectic schedules – kept them apart in recent months, reportedly causing their relationship to fizzle.  However, don’t be surprised if we hear of a reconciliation in 2011.  Zac and Vanessa reportedly still talk every day.

8. Jenny McCarthy & Jim Carrey

The former Playboy model and the funny man ended their five-year relationship at the beginning of 2010.  However, the couple insists they are thankful for the time they had together, and wish each other nothing but the best.

7. Jennifer Carpenter & Michael C. Hall

Dexter stars Jennifer Carpenter & Michael C. Hall may play brother and sister on the hit television series, but they’ll no longer be husband and wife in real life.  The co-stars decided to end their two-year marriage in December.

6. Eva Longoria and Tony Parker

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker ended their three-year marriage after the ‘Desperate Housewives’ star was “totally and completely blindsided” by her husband’s alleged infidelity.  The other woman?  Erin Barry, the wife of Tony’s former San Antonio Spur’s team mate Brent Barry.  Ouch.

5. Christina Aguilera & Jordan Bratman

Asking for joint physical custody of their young son, Max, Christina Aguilera filed for divorce from her husband of five years, Jordan Bratman in October.  The songstress has already been spotted out and about with a new man, Matt Rutler, a production assistant on the set of her new film ‘Burlesque.’

4. Scarlett Johansson & Ryan Reynolds

Shortly after Scarlett was named GQ’s ‘Babe of the Year’ and Ryan was crowned PEOPLE’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ the couple announced their break up, saying their hectic schedules  had taken a toll on their two-year marriage.  If the ‘Babe of the Year’ and the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ can’t make it work, what hope is there for the rest of us?

3. Courteney Cox & David Arquette

We were genuinely shocked when Courteney Cox and David Arquette announced their separation after 11-years together.  After all, that’s like forever in Hollywood!  We were less shocked when David called into the Howard Stern show to blab about his marriage, then apologized by blabbing some more, and then called back into the show a few months later to talk about it again… Maybe that’s why they split?

2. Sandra Bullock and Jesse James

She thanked him endlessly in her Oscar acceptance speech, only to discover that Jesse James had been carrying on affairs with multiple women while she was away filming.  Sandra Bullock officially ended her marriage to Jesse in June.

1. Elin Nordegren & Tiger Woods

After multiple affairs, a mysterious Thanksgiving car accident and months of speculation, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren made their divorce official in August 2010.  The settlement was undisclosed, but reports suggested that Elin would receive anywhere from $100 million in assets to as much as five times that figure.  The scandal not only derailed Tiger’s personal life but his professional career as well.
