Isabelle Caro Photos: Anorexic Model Dies at 28 (Photo)
Isabelle Caro, a French model and actress who had been battling anorexia since she was just 13 years old, has died. She was 28 years old.
Her acting coach, Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot, revealed the young model-actress died November 17, 2010 after returning from a job in Tokyo. While Daniele did not know the cause of Isabelle’s death, the acting coach added that her student, “had been sick for a long time [via PEOPLE].”
Isabelle was famously the face (and body) featured in a controversial shock campaign shot by Italian photographer, Oliviero Toscani in 2007. Images of Isabelle’s naked body, with skeletal bones protruding, were splashed across newspapers and billboards with the headline, “No Anorexia,” (pictured right).
In later interviews, Isabelle admitted she weighed about 59 lbs. when the photos were taken.
Isabelle often spoke to the media about her anorexia and attempts at recovery, the LA Times reports, even appearing as a member of the jury on ‘Top Model France,’ and Jessica Simpson’s ‘The Price of Beauty.
In 2008, the model penned a book published in France called, ‘The Little Girl Who Didn’t Want to Get Fat.’
Prior to her death, Isabelle tells aspiring models in one online video to “Believe in life.”
