Lindsay Lohan is out and David Arquette is in. The actor checked into the Betty Ford Center over the weekend Radar Online reports, undergoing treatment for depression and alcohol abuse.
A source told Radar that David spiraled into despair after his separation from his wife of 11-years, Courteney Cox. The actor was confronted by loved ones before Christmas about his increasingly erratic behavior, and checked into the rehab center for a permanent treatment program at the end of the year.
A friend of the actor revealed, “He is dealing with a broken heart. The last couple of months have been really hard for David. But he has bravely stood up and realized he needs some help to deal with these issues.”
After being snapped partying hard with strippers in December, David confessed that his heavy drinking had people concerned. “Everybody’s worried… When I drink, I become a maniac.”
However, the scene was much different at his New Year’s Eve party. Though David had entered rehab, “[he] wanted to fulfill his duties of hosting the party, so he had his sober coach there with him all night,” a source revealed. “He drank tons of water all night, and you always knew where he was at the party because he was playing the trumpet.”
