Emily Maynard is quickly becoming one of the most talked about bachelorettes from Season 15 of The Bachelor (which premiered last night) and we have all the details on the 24-year-old’s tragic past and hope for the future.
As Emily explained in last night’s premiere, she was engaged to former NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick for approximately 6 months when he left to go to a race in Martinsville, Virginia in October of 2004. Emily wasn’t feeling well so she decided to stay at home. She soon found out that the plane Ricky was one had crashed into a mountain and all 10 passengers had died.
Four days later Emily found out she was pregnant. At the memorial for Ricky, Emily told his parents the good news and the whole family was ecstatic.
It’s taken Emily almost five years to grieve the lost of her first love but she’s ready to put her foot forward and search for love on ABC’s the Bachelor. Whether or not Emily is the one picked remains unknown (although, if you want to read the spoilers for this season, you can check them out here) but she’s definitely the favorite of the season.
