A new year brings with it new beginning, and for Shania Twain, a new marriage!
The country singer wed her fiancé, Swiss executive Frederic Theibaud, on New Year’s day in Ricon, Puerto Rico.
Shania’s rep confirmed to US Weekly that she and Frederic began the year as newlyweds, adding that the nuptials were held in front of the pair’s closest family and friends. Shania’s 9-year old son, Eja, walked her down the aisle.
The star reportedly bought her gown at a small boutique store in Switzerland, which she paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Calvin Klein shoes.
Photographer Robert Evans – who also snapped Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ wedding – was on hand to capture their special day.
Shania recently gushed about Frederic on her blog, calling him a “true gift” and a “compassionate, understanding friend.” The singer and her new husband got close after the break-up of both of their marriages in 2008.
Shania’s husband of 14 years, Robert “Mutt” Lange” was said to have had an affair with her longtime friend – and Frederic’s ex-wife – Marie Anne, who managed the couple’s chateau in Switzerland.
