Survivor 2011 Redemption Island: Boston Rob Mariano Returning!

Survivor fans have been waiting anxiously to find out the new lineup of Survivor 2011 “Redemption Island” contestants and I am absolutely ecstatic to announce that fan favorite (or at least, my favorite) Boston Rob will be returning!

“Having never been awarded the title of Sole Survivor, Hantz and Mariano return to compete for the $1 million prize and one last shot at redemption,” CBS said in a statement.

“They will each join a separate tribe of all new castaways at the start of the game, but it is the tribe who will ultimately decide if they will welcome the knowledge of an experienced veteran, or view these former castaways as a threat.”

The Hantz that CBS is referring to is Russell Hantz – arguably one of the most strategic players in the history of the show (the most strategic player, obviously, being Boston Rob) and arch enemy of Mariano.

This will be Rob Mariano’s fourth attempt at the $1 million prize (he placed 2nd in Survivor All-Stars where his then-girlfriend and now-wife Amber Brkich took home the grand prize).

So does Rob have what it takes to outwit, outplay and outlast Russell – and all of the other contestants this season?

Only time will tell.

In a new twitst, this will be the first season ever that gives members who have been voted out a chance to return to the show.

The statement reads “Instead of leaving the game completely, booted contestants will go to Redemption Island, where they’ll live alone until someone else is voted out. Then, those two players will compete in a duel to determine which one stays and which one goes. The last person standing on Redemption Island has a chance to return to the game.”

Oh, it’s going to be good!

Do you think this will be Rob Mariano’s season to win?

I would seriously suggest you move back to the Thursday slot….American Idol is going to kick your ratings so bad. They have Wednesday and Thursday tied up and lets face it, a lot of Survivor fans will be watching American Idol instead on Wednesday…move back to Thursday.

Although I like Rob and his wife Amber, I have to wonder how fair is it to keep bringing back former players to be pitted against newbies?
Also, no matter what night the program airs and no matter what else is on another network, I will be watching SURVIVOR!!!

  3. Again. You have got to be kidding. Boston Rob and Russell have played together before. Is the show getting so desperate they have got to keep having the same contestants over and over again? Enough is enough. Let someone else have a chance to play.

I agree. Boston Rob has enough money coming in. Let someone else try. I am sure they get money for the videos that are sold. Not very smart if they agree to something less .I wish I could try out for the show but I have COPD and I doubt they would like for me to bring my oxygen with me. I do not have to use it all the time but if it is humid I do.I would love to do this show and wich they had done this when I was in my 30,s. wow.

I love the fact Rob and Russell are back, they are seasoned players that the others could benefit from if they are smart. Plus they are guaranteed color for the show with their quarcky personalities, and that’s what sells. I couldn’t care less about American Idol or any other show, nothing competes with Survivor. I’d follow this show no matter what day of the week, or what time. It’s without equal.
