Gabrielle Giffords Condition Update: Standing Up, Off to Rehab

Gabrielle Giffords suffered a gunshot wound to the head on January 8, 2011 that left her in critical condition for the past few weeks but her significant progress proves that Giffords is a fighter who will not give up.

Just 11 days after the incident, which took the lives of six people, Representative Gabrielle Giffords is standing with the help of others and is heading to a rehabilitation center where she’ll receive great attention and care.

The Washington Post reports:

“She will get a bed in the most private wing of the hospital, and U.S. Capitol Police will provide added security. But when Rep. Gabrielle Giffords arrives at TIRR Memorial Hermann hospital here Friday afternoon, that’s about the only special treatment doctors said they are planning for the most famous of their 119 patients.”

While she’s made a lot of progress over the past few weeks, professionals at the center reveal that the “program will be the start of a long road back to health.”

We’ll keep you posted on the condition of Gabrielle Giffords. For now, keep her in your prayers.
