Texting and driving can be dangerous – but apparently so can texting and walking, especially when you’re in a mall with a giant fountain ahead of you. Just ask 49-year-old Cathy Cruz Marrero, who works at the Berkshire Mall in Pennsylvania. Here’s why she has become the result of the popular search “woman falls in fountain while texting”:
If that doesn’t make you giggle today, I don’t know what will. Unfortunately, TIME reports that Cathy is pretty upset about the incident. She appeared on Good Morning America with her attorney, James Polyak, and they both think that Mall Security should have 1) come to her aid instead of laughing from a distance and 2) not let the video out onto the internet. Since the incident, the security worker who leaked the video has been fired.
“We plan to hold all responsible parties accountable,” Polyak said, and will at the very least request an apology from the security team. Man, where’s Gloria Allred? She’d be telling Cathy to ask for a ton of money! Of course, I’m not sure if you can sue other people for your own big fountain fail.

You have a lot of nerve blamming other people because you were not paying attention to what you were doing. You are responsible for your self and no one else. You know that you were not hurt you just made a fool of yourself.Just laugh about it and move on.
I couldn’t agree more with Pamela.
The only party accountable is the idiot lady that was texting and walking. If she did NOT want her identity made public she should have kept her mouth shut. No one would have known her name from the YOUTUBE video if she had not gone PUBLIC with her story. For goodness sakes, why do people always want to find blame and think they are deserving of money for their own blunders?
This woman has a criminal record – theft, forgery, etc. She’s just running another scam. It’s all about getting money any way she can.
Oh my god what a drama queen, this woman needs to grow up, if this happened to my mom or anyone else i would still laugh.
There is no cure for stupid.
I do not get out of the way when people are texting and walking towards me, No, that is not going to happen.
If you think you are so important that others have to get out of your way in public so that you can text, think again.
No, you are not important.
No, you are not entitled to think people should get out of your way.
No, unless you are a surgeon, an organ donor transport helicopter pilot, a blood donor who has a rare type of blood that is immediately needed in the ER, then you should pay attention to what you are doing and leave the texting until you are in a position not hurt anyone or yourself!
So you fell into the fountain, poor you.
But your actions put you there and the fact that it was caught on tape is too bad for you. Keep it on your phone to remind you of how careless you are.
