Anderson Cooper Attacked in Egypt (WATCH)

CNN’s Anderson Cooper was attacked and punched 10 times in the head by a pro-Mubarak mob in Egypt while covering the country’s civil unrest. “The crowd kept growing and throwing more punches and kicks and trying to grab us,” Cooper explained on CNN’s This American Morning. He was not seriously injured.

“It was pandemonium,” he said. “There was no control to it. Suddenly, a young man would look at you, and then punch you right in the face. The instinct is to try to punch or push back, but you really can’t in a situation like that. That inflames the crowd even more. All we could do was walk as quickly as possible and stay together and seek a safe location.”

Take a look at the video:

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has agreed not to seek reelection after protesters took to the streets last week – but yesterday his supporters joined the crush, resulting in violence and mayhem. Anderson tried to broadcast from a roof near Tahrir Square, but Mubarak supporters began attacking him and his crew and trying to steal their cameras. Nearby, several gasoline bombs went off and gunfire was heard.
