Kenneth Cole has unleashed fury in millions of people all over the world after he used #Cairo – a trending topic in Twitter because of the protests in Egypt – as a way to promote his new spring collection.
I can understand using some form of news story to help link a new spring collection to trending topics but saying that people are in uproar in Cairo because of your new line is utterly ridiculous. Not only is it disrespectful to those who have been severely affected by the situation in Egypt but it’s also a desperate plea for attention that should not be recognized by anyone as anything but exactly that.
Sure, you may have received a lot of attention today regarding your new collection, Kenneth, but I highly doubt men and women will be willing to spend their hard-earned dollars to promote a brand that takes advantage of tragedy to benefit themselves.
I’ve attached a photo of the tweet below – and I refrained from putting a link to his Twitter so he doesn’t receive anymore popularity than needed at this point.

I know they say any publicity is good publicity but, in this case, I simply disagree.
I, for one, will not be purchasing anything else from Kenneth Cole (and I used to like the brand).
Why waste your money on a sh-tty brand when there are so many other great ones to choose from.
Will you still buy from Kenneth Cole?
