Christina Aguilera may have flubbed one of the lines to the Star Spangled Banner during Sunday night’s Super Bowl 2011 event but it’s nice to see that some celebrities are joining us in our support for the singer - who clearly did a better job than most national anthem singers of the past.
Black Eyed Peas star Fergie, understands the pressure of singing in front of millions of viewers. She was quick to jump to Aguilera’s defense this week, telling listeners of Dan Patrick’s radio show that “it’s such a huge venue, your nerves take a hold of you. I completely understand, she’s one of the best singers of our time. Nobody can take that away from you….But you get nervous at these things. We’re human.”
And Fergie wasn’t the only one to defend the incredibly talented vocalist. In addition to thousands of fans on Twitter, Dane Cook also brought up a good point in his defense for XTina. He tweeted “Christina Aguilera Flubs line during Super Bowls National Anthem. In related news so did 100,000 people.”
Amazing point, Dane. I bet most of the people criticizing her couldn’t sing the Star Spangled Banner without messing up one line.

Ridiculous,
100,000 people weren’t paid enormous amounts of money to sing our nation’s most patriotic song. And spare me the crap about nerves taking hold. She is a super star and has sung to sold out venues countless times before. Now she suddenly has cold feet? I don’t buy it. She screwed up. Admit it and move on.
Small minds make stupid remarks.
You did great. Ignore evil minded
persons.
Best Wishes.
I loved the way Christina Aguilera sang the National Anthem and I appreciated the effort she put into her arrangement and performance. If you listen to the subtleties in her voice inflections, and where she used them, she cared about the meaning of the words and how they would be heard. She sang it like it was her song and her words and she wanted us to feel it the way that she felt it. The meaning and intent were there and people were still moved. The fact that Christina made a mistake (which is one of the beautiful aspects of live performance) is secondary to what she put into her performance that would match up to the level of Super Bowl 2011. Great Job Christina.
One of the worst renditions of the National Anthem ever! Please just let the choirs from one of the Military Academies sing it next year. Sing it like it was written. No one needs all those extra runs that ruin the song!! The Glee singer was phenomenal!
Do we really need to entertain ourselves with the mistakes of others. I am about sick of hearing over and over again on the news that Christine missed a line in singing the US National Athem. So what, who cares, for Gods sake. If people would spend more time noticing their own mistakes, and dong something about them, we would be living in a much better world/environment.
Christine has a very powerful talented voice, and is it not possible to just enjoy what she gives us with her talent. To be honest with you all, I didn’t even notice the mistake until the news on my T.V. has talked about it so much that I don’t even want to listen to the news until they shut up about it. I have better things to do with my mind.
we all make mistakes,,big effin deal,,fuck if you were doing that you would be nervous too..we aint all perfet so stuf!. christina you did GREAT!!
If she would have just sang it the way it was suppose to be sang maybe she wouldn’t have screwed it up. Every entertainer tries to put there own spin on a song that should be sang respectfully and with honorably and not treating it as a way to be more famous.
The worst rendition of the National Anthem I’ve heard for a long time. Listen to Whitney Houstin in her prime and compare with Christina Aguilera and there is no comparison. If you are a true profesional you don’t forget the words to this song you’ve heard sung hundreds of times and you don’t treat the music like a jazz song. It was off key, no breath control, and a terrible arrangement.
I was disgusted to hear her rendition of our National Anthem. Sing it as it is suppose to and not try change the arrangement! Even the faces of the Military Honor Guard showed their disgust. She is suppose to be a superstar so I also dont buy it that she was nervous! There is one kid about 5 years old that could sing it BETTER than her! That Video is on U-tube!
