In an explosive new interview with GQ Magazine, former country star and devoted dad to one of Hollywood’s most troubled starlets, Billy Ray Cyrus is opening up about his struggles to keep his daughter grounded.
Over the past couple of years, Miley Cyrus, (now 18) has been the center of countless media scandals. From nude photos and making out with boys to smoking and drinking Miley has pretty much handed the media a free pass to criticize her life – and now her dad is speaking out about what he would change if he could turn back time.
In reference to Miley’s hit show Hannah Montana, Billy Ray says “It destroyed my family. I’ll tell you right now – the damn show destroyed my family.”
He also says that he’s “scared” for Miley and is concerned about the people she’s surrounding herself with. “She’s got a lot of people around her that’s putting her in a great deal of danger. I should have said ‘Enough is enough – it’s getting dangerous and somebody’s going to get hurt.”
Billy Ray, who recently announced his divorce from Miley’s mom, Tish Cyrus, finishes by saying “Honestly, I didn’t know the ball was out of bounds until it was way up in the stands somewhere.”
Sounds like Miley’s relationship with her father has taken a turn for the worse.
We support devoted fathers here but is opening up to a world-renowned magazine talking about your daughter’s struggles really the best way to try and mend things? I don’t think so.
Just ask Michael Lohan how that works out.
Do you think it was inappropriate of Billy Ray to say such negative things about his daughter to GQ Magazine?

i think he doesn’t want take the blame he is blaming everyone, but if u have a close relationship with ur daughter no matter how old they r u have the right to tell her ur feelings michael lohan is just out there for attention he doesn’t give a care about his kids
I think it’s okay. They have been a transparent family for the most part, talking about things honestly. Lindsay’s parent’s have never taken responsibility for their daughter’s insane behavior always defending her with “She’s just having fun”, etc. I believe he’s letting us know up front that he can’t handle what is happening and feels defenseless. The Lohan’s have never shown vulnerability so this is refreshing and new, at least to me.
