Matthew Morrison wants to be more than just the hot Mr. S. on Glee – he’s a budding pop star. According to People Magazine, he debuted his first single, “Summer Rain,” on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show.
Matthew, 32, says the upbeat, beachy tune is a little different from the things you might hear on Glee. “I want to stay a little bit away from Glee,” he explained. He also said he thought he needed to write his own songs to be taken seriously – so he did!

What do you think? Matthew describes his sound as a cross between Michael Buble and Justin Timberlake. I’m not sure if we really get that from “Summer Rain,” which is reminiscent of Train’s “Hey Soul Sister” – but I’m interested to hear the rest of the album.
