Mike Huckabee Slams Natalie Portman For Having Child Out of Wedlock

Everyone loves Natalie Portman – except former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. MediaMatters reports that in a radio appearance on Monday, the 55 year-old criticized the Oscar winner for having a child out of wedlock. It’s “troubling” to see people like “Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet who boasts of, ‘Hey look, you know, we’re having children, we’re not married, but we’re having these children, and they’re doing just fine,’” he said. “It’s unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out of children wedlock.”

His remarks came in response to Portman’s Best Actress acceptance speech, in which the 29 year-old thanked her fiancee and baby daddy Benjamin Millepied, “who choreographed the film, and has now given me my most important role of my life.”

“I think it gives a distorted image,” Huckabee continued. Unlike Portman, he argued, “Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care.

Huckabee defended his position to Us Weekly: “These people should read my book and they would know what I said instead of what some left-wing partisans are attempting to put forth,” Huckabee said. ” I do appreciate the attention to the book as it is sparking interest in it dramatically.”

Ohhh, so it’s about selling books. I get it.

What do you think? Is N-Port glamorizing single motherhood? Personally I find it surprising that nobody in the GOP has ever had sex out of wedlock. None of you, really? Not to mention affairs or secret love children…

  1. Not all single moms are poor and uneducated. There are moms out there whom are not ready to get married, but whom have children. Why would you make a dumb comment like that?
