Mike DeStefano Dies, Heidi Montag Releases Twitter Message
Mike DeStefano, a finalist for Last Comic Standing, has died of a heart attack. Last year, the comedian finished fourth place in the competition.
Mike had a history of drug use. Until he was 31, he battled drug addictions and struggled to turn his life around. Then, he turned to comedy. Comedy was a form of relief for Mike and many thought him to be one of the best comedians in the world.
Most recently, Mike had done a TV show Drugs, Disease and Death: A Comedy. The show was very tightly based on his life, including his past drug use, HIV (which he had) and his wife’s death.
The producer of the show took the news particularly hard this week, releasing this statement to the public:
“We’ll be talking about it later. Sorry if we’ve ignored the e-mails and text messages. Mike became a brother to us. We love him.”
Even stars like Heidi Montag are sending their condolences to friends and family of the star.
Heidi wrote on her Twitter page, “Devastated to learn about the passing of Mike DeStefano. Hilarious comedian with a great heart. RIP Mike.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his friends.
