Rebecca Black on Leno: Awkward Interview & “Friday” Performance (WATCH!)

At first, I felt bad for Rebecca Black…she’s just 13 years old, and she’s already learned how painful it can be when the internet turns against you. When she released her horrid, seemingly irony-free pop song “Friday,” commenters went as far to say she should develop and eating disorder and/or die (ouch).

But with over 38 million views on YouTube and the #33 spot on iTunes Top 100 Singles chart, Rebecca is pulling in $27,000 a week – so who’s laughing now? Maybe the girl can’t sing any better than any other 13 year-old, but she’s found a cash cow. Better than babysitting, eh? Better than…every job I’ve ever had, times infinity. After crunching the numbers, I’ve decided it’s safe to hate her again.

But in an interview with Jay Leno last night, the refreshingly normal girl says she is going to donate her earnings to Japan earthquake/tsunami relief. Crap, she’s got a soul. I’m so conflicted about my glass of haterade now. Check out the videos of her interview and performance and see what you think:

Rebecca Black got to sit next to Bradley Cooper. Hate.

  1. She seems really sweet, but the song is still….ugh

  2. She was very graceful, nothing awkward about it

  3. Yeah the songs bit of a horror, but she really is a sweetie.

Best of luck to her I guess, and maybe she might get a non-awful producer to maybe make her next song something she doesn’t have to feel embarassed about.

Hey probably the most cringeworthy song ever was kylie minogues take on locomotion, and look where she ended up.

If anyone needs a slap-down its the horrible people that wrote her friday song. Not a cool thing to do to a kids self esteem.
