Who went home tonight (or last night, depending on when you’re reading this) on American Idol?
Those of you who missed the show may be shocked to learn that both Naima Adedapo and Thia Megia have been eliminated from the show. Thia and Naima found themselves in the bottom three – along with Paul – but couldn’t manage to secure enough votes to stay in the competition.
Naima’s journey on American Idol has been nothing short of difficult. Shocked that she made it into the Top 24, Naima’s dreams were quickly put into perspective when it was announced she was eliminated earlier on. Lucky for her, the judges decided to use one of their wildcards to give the eccentric singer another shot. Naima then managed to win over enough fans and secure enough votes to last a few more weeks but her journey came to an end tonight.
Thia was the youngest contestant to compete this year and will hopefully continue to try and compete in the coming years.
The other contestants sat by teary-eyed as they said goodbye to two of their friends. Lauren Alaina was visibly upset as she cried hard when the announcement was made.
Also sitting on the safe side was last week’s vote-off, Casey Abrams. Casey had a tough week but – as Ryan Seacrest pointed out on tonight’s show – secured more than enough viewer votes to make it to the next round.
I have to say, I think America got it right this week. Both Naima and Thea were great singers but neither had what it took to be the next American Idol (in my opinion).
What are your thoughts? Did the fans make the right choice tonight?

They got it almost right. I think Jacob should have gone home the first week. He hasn’t hit a right note since he started singing. I don’t know what the judges are thinking.
Okay. So, we are watching American Idol, am I right? How come one of the contestant joined in Country Idol instead of American Idol? Huh? Who’s that contestant? Gimme a break. Who else? It’s Scotty McCreery.
Given the fact that he is young and has a good country singing voice, it actually gets old to keep on hearing him sing the same genre every week. The only thing I have in mind is that, how come Randy keeps on pushing Thia, Pia and Hayley to get out of the box, but for Scotty, he keeps on saying that he needs to stay true to himself? Confusing aint it?
The other things that I noticed were how James was given an extra advantage of doing special effects to his performance (fire on the piano) whilst his vocals on the song didn’t really sound good (not even great at all)! He actually played with the audience and made his vocal performance suffer. He belted out yes, but comparing the quality of his tone to Thia Megia? Don’t even let me get started!
And Jacob? Oh the thing is I don’t know if he’s really an ebony the baptist singer or a broadway emo singer! During his holywood performance, I kind of liked him well when he sang ‘God Bless the Child’, now, I can actually say his thing gets old. Every time he performs, it’s either he would belt it out, or there’s gonna be a pitchy belt out somewhere in the song, with matching closing of his eyes that would make you think and ask, ‘does he wanna cry or is he going crazy?’ He’s way overdramatic and it’s really getting annoying, and it’s not good anymore.
I think, the bottom 3 should have been:
James, Jacob and Scotty. And the one voted off should have been Scotty.
Common, I’d rather listen to ballads over and over than listen to country music and Imagine I’m in a farm! Again America, it’s American Idol not Country Idol!
Well said, navybluesilver. My only beef is that Paul, who’s had an underwhelming performance of what I can only describe as a mystifying combination of spasms and tonsillitis, has somehow managed to sneak by every week. He should have gone home tonight.
we cannot make everyone happy,i heard those who sang last night. and its only thia has the best voice. and she’s adorable. James, keep on shouting but i cant recognized his good voice, paul, he’s squeaking. jacob he is a trying hard singer. scooty only one kind of genre he sang. haley, she is shouting. i dont know with the voters.
Everybody and especially parents are a huge disgrace to all human races. How can you be tone deaf ignorant and exteremly jealous to send if you say not the best definatly nothing less then the best home.I will not comment about Paul and Naima it could have gone eitherway.JLO beyonce jayz rihana alicia keys kanye west whitney houston mariah carey jordan sparks fantasia barrino and many many more not one of their songs can top Thias on my own and Daniel and not one person in music history can sing the song Daniel like Thia and the original ELton John.If im to chooose i say Celine DIon will be the one and only one to sing that song. With all this said there are several that are still great so I know everybody who didnt want her to stay has her singing Idol solos Daniel and on my own recorded.I challenge anyone their parents and teenager sons and daughters to sing Daniel and on my own like she did. They would not stand a chance to be in her singing range.I know all you haters out there who wanted to kick her off are losers because your parents have no morals.Oh mom please dont vote for her.Shes 15 like me and our brother went away too.Its not what you know its who you know. All the mentioned above so called singers have to practice as they sing.Connection got them where they are.Casey Scotty Lauren Haley and Pia please make me proud to take home the title as American Idol winner for this seeason.AMerica look at James durbin his sorry twiches and what he said about michael jackson on air was horrendous.Thia I could sing but im like the world I wish i can sing a solo performance like that to my brother.Love you and your family.
