Britney Spears has been hitting the entertainment scene hard this week and may have jumped the gun when it came to an announcement she made about her tour.
During her interview with Robin Roberts for her hyped up appearance on Good Morning America this week, Brit-Brit revealed some news that made fans even more excited to score tickets to her concert. Her big news? She will be touring with Enrique Iglesias in June!
How exciting, right? Wrong.
Just hours after Britney announced she would be co-headlining with Enrique, he announced he was out.
“Unfortunately, Enrique Iglesias and Britney Spears will not be touring together,” his rep said. “Despite initial reports based on formal discussions of the possible run, Enrique will continue on his solo tour in support of his new album EUPHORIA. Enrique has great respect for Britney and is a longtime fan of her work. He is very sorry for the confusion this might have caused to anyone.”
Why the change of heart?
According to reports, Enrique doesn’t want anyone to think there’s even the slightest possibility that he might be the opening act (even though there was never mention of him as the opening acting). So instead of making it clear that the two artists are co-headlining, Enrique decided to back out entirely. So mature.
There’s no word on whether Britney will choose someone else to tour with – or whether she’ll have someone open for her instead.
Everyone knows Britney’s more popular than Enrique anyways. Something tells me she’s going to be just fine without him!
