Pia Toscano may no longer be performing on the stage of American Idol but that doesn’t mean she’s banned from belting out tunes on other ABC stages – like Dancing with the Stars, for example!
The American Idol cast-off will be performing on Dancing with the Stars next week, it was announced yesterday.
Pia has been the center of controversy since she was ousted from the coveted show two weeks ago. When it was announced that she was in the final stages of signing a record deal with Interscope Records (the same label that now signs the AI winner), many thought it was unfair that a former contestant from this season was getting so much attention.
The news of Pia’s performance on DWTS next week will also undoubtedly spark anger in some fans of American Idol who feel as though Pia is taking the attention away from the remaining contestants.
I have to say, I do agree in many ways that Pia should not be performing or signing to a label before the American Idol winner is announced but I know many of you disagree with my opinion.
I just think that giving too much attention to contestants that have been eliminated sends the message that there’s nothing to compete for. Either way, you’re getting a record contract so why not get voted off early and start making your media rounds while all the others are focused on AI.
Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Yes! Pia should sing on DWTS. She is such a great singer and I love hearing her great voice.
The reason Pia is getting all this attention is because she should have never been voted off so early. She is by far the most beautiful and talented of all the conestants this year and her talent so overshadows all those left. I am thrilled she is getting these opportunities because she deserves them! Luckily, producers have seen her talent and they don’t want someone else to sign her. Smart move on their part. I believe she will be another Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry. When you have that kind of talent nothing can stop you! Good Luck, sweet Pia!
She is a great talent and was voted off. She should do what is best for her career.
What’s wrong that anybody tries to look for what is best for her. Is that illegal? Is she breaking a contract? She was treated unfairly by the voters since she was if not the best performer one of the best. She has dreamed about been a star since she was a child and U.S.A is a free country. Is she is wanted from many to perform good for her.
Wow: How sad is it that Pia is out there getting work, making valuable appearances and people are criticizing her for it! She deserves great things because she is fabulous and went home far too early!
Pia is awesome!! She should be out there singing where ever she can.. I can’t wait for her CD.. America got it wrong and the Judges should never had used their save until late in the competition.. Look what happened the best got voted off.. You go Pia and just know that you have many fans…
its unfair to pia part they are not giving the change to compate there is no challenge in that competation. Im watching here in europe but now pia is out dont like to watch. Grrr!
I agree whole-heartedly with all of the above comments! The only one who’s got it wrong here is the author of this article!! Pia deserves a record deal NOW and to perform anywhere she is invited because she was completely robbed on American Idol! I think we will see the voting rules change immensely next season due to this debauchery!! Pia is an amazing talent and so deserving to be smack dab in the middle of the spotlight right now!

I would support completely if Pia gets record deal contract since she was voted off by accident; it’s right; you can’t stop the talent smart good singer from having an on and on attention from lost of people. So make Pia a good deal; if you don’t you’ll be disappointed; right guys…..

I miss Pia enjoyed listening to her voice ecen with my eyes close. So… why must she stop what is enjoys most, that is singing. YOU GO GIRL!!!
Should she sing on DWS, absolutely, and every other opertunity that comes her way, ten fold.
I think she should sing any where she can and any where she is invited to. She sings great and I’d love to listen to her voice any time. ANd no it’s not soon for her to be in DWTS
