Olivia Wilde Talks Divorce & Dating in Glamour
My girlcrush on Olivia Wilde continues. The 27 year-old House star graces the cover of the new issue of Glamour Magazine, and inside she opens up about her divorce and getting back into the dating scene.
In 2003, Olivia had her own Royal Wedding – to Italian Prince Tao Ruspoli. She was just 18 and he was 27 – but the relationship lasted for 8 years (longer than many of us had predicted). “The mark of a good marriage is partnership and continuing to feel inspired by your spouse,” she explained. “I had that with Tao. But the end is not necessarily the tragedy. Staying in a relationship that is no longer working is the tragedy. Living unhappily—that’s the tragedy.”
Some stars think the institution of marriage is simply doomed; when Maxim asked if she thought marriage was a dying institution, Cameron Diaz, said, “I do. I think we have to make our own rules. I don’t think we should live our lives in relationships based off of old traditions that don’t suit our world any longer.” Tell that to the billions of people who watched the William & Kate’s Royal Wedding…why do we want marriage to work so badly??
Whether or not she’ll get married again, Olivia will certainly have no trouble finding a date. Last month, Olivia was spotted getting her drink on well into the wee hours with Justin Timberlake – but she claims that they’re just friends. “I’m opening up my heart to the idea of dating,” Olivia said. “It’s funny—my friends would always come to me for romantic advice, [but] I know nothing, and things have changed since I was dating in high school! I’m really trying hard to spend this time working on myself.”
