The Voice TV Show: Blake Shelton under Fire for Violent Anti-Gay Remarks – Thoughts?

GLAAD is coming after Blake Shelton for some anti-gay remarks he made on Twitter. The worst part is that he did it on his own accord – Not that anti-gay remarks are EVER okay.

Apparently he posted 300k followers a rewrite to the Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine” song. Instead of saying, “Any man of mine better walk the line – Better show me a teasin’ squeezin’ pleasin’ kinda time.” He writes:

“Any man that tries, Touching my behind. He’s going be a beaten, bleedin’, heaving kind of guy..”

Umm.. what year is this?!

Not only does it completely negate all any strong women / women empowerment themes going on in the song – but it is just so hateful.

The group called on him to apologize to which he writes,

“Haa! Reading all my anti-gay hate tweets… Ha! Ha! If people only knew even a little about me, my family and friends. Dumb a—“

But eventually he or the  “The Voice” producers turned it around with an apology:

“Hey y’all allow me to seriously apologize for the misunderstanding with the whole re-write on the Shania song last night,” Shelton wrote on Thursday. “It honestly wasn’t even meant that way… I now know that their [sic] are people out there waiting to jump at everything I say on here or anywhere. But when it comes to gay/lesbian rights or just feelings… I love everybody. So go look for a real villain and leave me out of it!!!”

Err.. nice.. apology?

What do you think about the remarks.. Too much?

I guess this explains his winner tonight.
    Some peoples kids…

  2. This is just a continuation of the way Blake acted when saw that he was working with Tyler. It was like he had to work with someone that smelled. Going into the competion you new that he was not going to win no matter how he sang because he was gay!! Blake could not get him off his team fast enough. He could have been competeing with a monkey and still lost. I am straight and so this and can understand the gay movement being upset. Blake watch out or your singing may not be listened to by certain people either.
    Think about it.

    I love you Blake.
