Tarralyn Ramsey vs. Frenchie Davis were the first two to hit the battle stage on the The Voice tonight. Their tune? “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) ” By: Beyonce.
The rehearsal started off fine. Christina Aguilera even made a little joke about her Super Bowl performance while rehearsing for the battle as she was trying to tell them to get into it. “I never look at the words.” She said with a laugh.
Then the tension started and it was fierce! Christina looked at the two and said she felt the tension between them and even warned them not to ruin the day. Frenchie had issues with Christina for saying she was sharp, and for Tarralyn for holding out until the performance.
Probably not a good idea for Tarralyn at the end.
The battle was not the best. I was actually pretty surprised – it sounded kinda like the first week or two of American Idol. As they battled they tried to outdo each other and some notes just went crazy on them. No one seemed to notice this on the “coaches” panel which was a little annoying.
At the end Tarralyn Ramsey went home.. but not without a little drama!
Do you think that Tarralyn should have been eliminated?
No. Tarralyn was amazing and i thought she was better than frenchie and would be the better artist in a long run. This is a shame. I wish there was some sort of way to get her back on the show.
NO WAY. Tarralyn was amazing but she was over the top. She tried to hard and came across and FORCEFUL and UNNATURAL. They both have great voices, however Frenchie was calm, cool and collective. She demonstrated more professionalism in the performance. Again, both artist have great voices and both can sing, but Tarra tried so hard she came off a bit uneasy and though she HIT a HIGH note or two, she did not PERFORM better than FRENCHIE. The PROFESSIONAL made the CORRECT decision.
Brent, what would you know about professionalism? Or singing for that matter? You seem to be a tool with a FIXATION with YOUR CAP LOCKS key. (FYI – “CAN NOT” is actually one word.)
Tarralyn Ramsey can sing her butt off. That rinky dink song they had to sing did not show their vocal prowess. If they were giving a song like “I Will Always Love You”. You would have seen their vocal deliveries. Don’t know why Christina picked that mediocre song! Tarralyn will be fine. Her phone is ringing right now for gigs, I’m sure.
i thought Tarralyn was pitchy on her licks, which just didn’t fit at a all, and she also behaved in an unprofessional manner. I thought she was pretty petulant both in the interviews and in the performance, pulling things out of nowhere to put off her competitor. It was obvious she was playing tricks & Christina must have noticed too. Frenchie wasn’t great but she was clearly better. Far more musical. There’s really no point going for big licks if you can’t pull them off, especially considering her coach/judge. Tarralyn seemed to think she was on Judge Judy or something & was really combative. You can’t make good music without working as a team.
I agree. Tarralyn can sing but singing is not all about high notes. It just doesn’t sound good when they always come out especially when it doesn’t fit the song phrase. However, I also think that Christina’s song choice both did not do well for Frenchie and Tarralyn. I guess the two were so busy outdoing each other that their delivery failed to do justice on the song.
tarralyn was better hands down. Christina bad bad decision. Somebody in the industry is taking notes.

I agree with Max. I know it was a battle but they she didn’t need to act that way. The last battle was the battle. They were both so humble. They even hugs each other that the end of the battle to me that what a real star is. You win some and lose some. I just love the fact they work well with one another put on a good show. I really enjoy the last battle. I am glad to hear Cee Lo says to the girl that he didn’t pick that he got her. That’s put tear in my eyes becuz he know she was good.
Frenchie will not be a major recording artist. Christina’s judgement sucked. I am no longer a fan. If the show is going to play politics it is no different from any other show. Tarralyn is far better vocalist than Christina. Why Christina would select a teeny-bopper song for two women with big voices is stupid. You might win some Christina but you just lost one.

I think I figured it out. Christina know deep down she can’t teach or coach Tarralyn because in my opinion she has better voice than Christina.. Tarralyn is a beast.

If you want to compare credentials..Christions is one of the greatest female vocalist of our time with awards and million to back her up. Frenchi, has been on broad way and traveled around the world to sing, Terra, she is nothing but another black girl with a great voice, like million of others who are trying to make it. haha! Listen to you… anybody with functional hearing knows Tarralyn has a WAAAAAY better voice than frenchie and can outsing Christina all day long. You know nothing. It’s obvious to me… because if you did… you’d know that Tarralyn had a HORRIBLE recording contract that she was bound under for almost a decade and that’s why you didn’t really hear from her. She said she didn’t make a dime when her NUMBER ONE single she had in the gospel market came out. Her label profited, not her. I’m getting sick & tired of people like YOU that don’t know what they’re talking about saying how Christina is a better vocalist and blah blah blah because she’s sold millions of records.. So I guess since britney spears is a better vocalist than Tarralyn because she sold millions too? LOL! I DON’T THINK SO. I didn’t see the problem with Tarralyn leaving her opponent guessing, it is a competition…regardless of the tension the best singer went home! Frenchie will not win this show.

Tarralyn was sharp, screechy and at the end screamed the song. Frenchie maintained good tone and just sang. No question Frenchie should have and deserved to win.

But that Tarralyn (yes that girl with that goddamn awful lace front!) sounded like a banshee yodelling to her African ancestors back in Rwanda! She was too much in her notes and tried to scream over Frenchie’s voice. Even Sia (Christina’s advisor was like WTF???) I could understand every word that Frenchie sang but not Tarralyn’s. Frenchie had more control and poise and she wasnt thrown off when Tarralyn tried to outshine her. Right call!
I was actually a big fan of Tarralyn from the first episode. She killed the song, in a good way. I didn’t really care for Frenchie’s voice. I believe the song choice was bad on Christina’s part. It’s almost if she set them up to fail. They both sounded really bad singing Beyonce’s song, but I was routing for Tarralyn. I don’t know if the pairing thing is working for the show because you loose good singers in the beginning and then in the end you’re left with a few duds.
I thought Tarralyn could have held back a little bit more, which is why Frenchie won.
Crap choice but they want ratings. Frenchie already had taped interviews on the local NBC news is LA. Tarralyn has more style, better voice, and more oomph. Chutzpah. Balls. Soul.

I love tarralyn but she learned a good lesson…never pick a diva when you’re a diva..she should have picked cee lo and would have had a better shot at winning.
Tarralyn should’ve picked Cee-Lo. Christina was determined to get rid of a singer better than her. I don’t think Frenchie did anythng special. Btw, the studio version is up on itunes.
I’ve been a big Tarralyn fan ever since I first saw her on VH1′s Born to Diva in 2004. And I love her song Remedy from her album named Tarralyn. So when I saw that she was on the voice I was rooting for her from day one. I knew it was going to be a real battle when she had to face Frenchie. The song that Christina chose for them SUCKED. I think Christina chose a pop song just to level out the playing field. Beyonce’s Halo would have been a better choice. With that being said I felt that Frenchie did a better performance than Tarralyn. I really wanted Tarralyn to win the voice. I think if a better song was chosen that Tarralyn would have won hands down. I wish Tarralyn much success in her future endeavors and look forward to hearing some new music from her soon.
I like Frenchie, but I think Tarralyn has a better voice. She probably has one of the best voices I have ever hheard. I think they are two of Christina’s best singers. This is just my opinion, but I wouldn’t have put the two of them against one another. I would have put them against some of the weaker singers so that they both could have made it through to the next round.

You know, which of the two was better, to me is secondary. Personally I prefer Tarralyn. But more importantly, I also think Frenchie is amazing. I feel they are actually equal, with each their own strengths and weaknesses. What I really can’t understand is why the ^*&&^% you would put these two against each other. They were 2 of the very best in the whole competition, let alone Christina’s team. They keep saying they want to win. If I wanted to win, I wouldn’t put my 2 best up against each other! Makes me wonder if they are really free to choose the mach ups or if in the end they are instructed and building a certain “cast” for tv ratings, like I see happening in American Idol time and time again. This is a disappointment. The best should continue in the show and they have just let one of them go. FACT!
Tarrlynn has a wonderful voice, but her pitch was very off in the first verse she sang. She may overall have a better voice than Frenchie, but, she didn’t win the challenge. I think Frenchie won because her pitch was perfect and she didn’t go over the top with the showing off. Vocal runs are great, but you can overdo them, and if your pitch is off then they sound really terrible.
I’m SO glad that Tarralyn went home. People say that Frenchie was on idol and Broadway so she had a leg up. Um she didn’t even make idol and what did she do with rent? Tarralyn actually won the singing competition that she was in and she had a deal with them. Did an album, video the whole nine and she was a gospel artist with gospel roots. So who has the leg up? Tarralyn thinks she is the best singer out there. You can since it from her and it is ugly. Her runs where off period. Who ever disagree look up the key of the song and see if the notes she sang are in it. I like that Frenchie said that she worries about pitch and tone because I feel it was a sarcastic catty line towards Tarralyn lol.
Frenchie has a vocal skill that I can’t wait for Yall non musical people to hear. It’s clean, bright, and exciting. She can use her voice in more ways than Tarralyn, singing styles such as (jazz, gospel, ballads, Broadway, and pop) this was showcased in the battle which is way Christina picked it. No one wants a one trick pony….
Im a fan of Tarralyn and in reading the comments there’s no need to bash Tarralyn or Frenchie! The song choice was wrong for these to power voices and it didn’t showcase their beautiful voices and range. I don’t know why they were up against each other in the first place, Im sure the show had their reason which we all know why! Tarralyn would have blown this competition away had she been placed with another singer! Christina shame on you for the selection in song. Beyonce song was not a song for BIG voices as Frenchie and Tarrayln it had NO range to really showcase these two voices and I think Christina knew this and we didn’t get to see an amazing performance that we all know Tarralyn can put on.
The whole music business is shady period. Honestly I think that Tarralyn has been black listed since things really did not go to well with Mr. Motola. Christina sucked when it came to song choice also. She is a deemed diva so Tarralyn should have known better than to put trust in Christina. Cee Lo would have been a better choice. Men usually don’t get into that female mess. The truth will come out into the light and Tarralyn will be were she should be. Fame, like everything else, comes with a price.
