Matthew Perry is headed back to rehab. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Friends and Mr. Sunshine star announced yesterday that he plans to check into a treatment facility. “I’m making plans to go away for a month to focus on my sobriety and to continue my life in recovery,” he said in a statement. He also joked, “Please enjoy making fun of me on the World Wide Web.”

The one suspicious thing about this announcement is that a source claims the decision was not caused by a relapse; he’s been clean and just wants to stay clean. That is either A) really mature or B) total bullshit. But since Matthew’s ABC show Mr. Sunshine is likely to be cancelled, maybe he’s depressed and wants to stop himself from turning to prescription drugs or alcohol, as he has in the past.
Matt has been to rehab twice before; once in 1997 and once in 2001.
